The best signing we have made this season by a country mile.

last season we were "touted as interested in Ivan Toney" .. not doing bad for £9m for Brentford!
this window kept our powder dry... no big sales out or in !

We have to keep him fit, I am afraid Diedhiou just does not and never will cut it in the same way.

    How do you know RR?
Williams might yet be even better.
Walsh is like a new signing - he may be our best 'new' player.
Bakinson is like another new player, you could argue he's been our best 'new' player.

Anyway, I reckon our best player this season is consistency of set up and player selection.

I wonder why Derby didn’t fight to keep him?

Have to agree, Bakinson even though not purchased this season is the player we’ve been missing for years. I like Martin, but the emergence of Bakinson this season is something else.
Williams on the brief viewings I’ve had and reading his reviews to hopefully going to push us on further.

Because we are not the same side when he is not playing-links up brilliantly the midfield and other strikers. He is the glue that makes us tick.

Bakinson has started well, but you can replace him with another decent midfield player,we don't have another striker like Martin [different gravy]

I agree we have options in midfield for a change, but Martin is certainly different gravy and we have nobody to replace him, I like Semyeno but he is raw and needs to learn from somebody like Martin, strikers with football brains are as rare as rocking horse crap.

Agree - which makes the fact that Derby let him go even more strange. Fallout with Rooney maybe?

I have a very good friend who is a Derby season ticket holder. She told me that the fans loved him, he wanted 2 years and Derby offered him only one. Derby fans not best pleased, she also said he is on big money.

Strangely Rooney is playing upfront this season so far as opposed to midfield and they ain't scoring, they do have injuries.

The rumour is Cocu is close to the sack and Rooney will replace him.

LJ is a Fulham fan isn’t he? He wouldn’t have a ST for Derby County <laugh>

Dwayne 'the Rock' Johnson has more chance, could you imagine LJ trying to handle Rooney?

God can you imagine Rooney as a football manager? Lampard and Gerrard is still an odd one but Rooney would be bizarre.

Also another + for Bakinson, who would have seen him as being the key man to push us up the table? I remember him being raved about when we signed up, and Luton chiming about having bitten our hands off because the fee was so stupidly high, but he's proving that wrong now.

You could be correct - I knew it was either Fulham or Watford - I had a 50-50 chance and chose the wrong one <laugh>

I must admit, if I were a football manager, handling the oversized egos of utterly thick (but skilful and very rich) prima donnna players would definitely be my downfall.
I can’t stand petulance and would probably end up smacking one of the self-entitled overpaid 5h1ts - and their parasitic agents too!
Just as well I only do my football management on these boards.....!

Martin is the man that has got us where we are-not Bakinson-take Martin out of the side and we would be a completely different team.

Sorry I can't have that, the first hour at home to Coventry our midfield was totally abject, the same midfield that played so abjectly at home to Exeter, being AS USUAL out muscled, out played, out classed and producing nothing, go back to Massengo, with Paterson and Weimann and the same thing would happen again, Bakinson's presence has improved Weimann so much that for a change he retains his place on merit and allows Paterson the freedom from normal midfield duties like tackling and tracking back.

I have wanted to see a midfield something like this pretty much for the past 4 years and now we have Walsh and Williams returning to full fitness, but at the moment Bakinson keeps his place on merit.
