Agree on Perkins and, maybe Joffy would be the dogs doo dahs for us in the Championship supporting a proper number nine but, alas, I have seen enough of him to form the opinion that he won’t cut the mustard at the highest level :emoticon-0148-yes:
We’re not at the highest level and why strengthen a rival if he does perform well in the championship?

Joffy has had a fair few chances. I watched alot of him at Sunderland last season and he just survived. He didn't really look dangerous, didn't take people on, didn't excel with his passing. He just played it safe. Not good enough and before people start saying he was playing out of position I'd just like to remind them that he played as a striker. That's what he is. A squad player for us at best. We won't get promoted with him starting as either a 9 or a 10.

As for Perkins, I've seen him live just the once and he looked a big strong lad. That's what made him stand out in that u21 game. He didn't dazzle me with his quality at all, I thought he was sloppy in possession. His major asset was that he was big and strong and the young defenders couldn't shove him off the ball. That won't happen in the Championship, these defenders will eat him alive.

Mateo Joseph might be worth a look as I think he has good movement, a decent touch but more importantly never stops running and looks fairly quick, especially over 5 yards which could be useful for us.
So you’re saying that the big strong lad won’t handle the physicality of the league but the skinny little quick lad will?

It’s about where we are not where we want to be.

None of us want to be here but due to our sad little lives we're all still very much participating in this forum of the walking dead.

With apologies to any of our younger forumites of course....of which there are absolutely zero.

Anyway chin up as tomorrow's another day and all that <ok>

Even the walking dead eventually ran out of story lines and they had to eventually shut it down. Maybe that’s what’ll happen to this forum

No I'm saying that the physical advantage Perkins holds over his current age group dissipates when he plays against Championship standard defenders as they are much bigger and stronger than the ones he usually plays against. I don't think he has anything else in his armoury to fall back on.

With Joseph, his movement off the ball and pace running with it might transfer over to mens football more effectively. A bit like Summerville if you like. He's only small but his pace and trickery makes him a handful. Joseph might be the same.

Personally, I'd like to test the Greenwood / Joffy relationship again. Worked great in the u23s, & should now both be experienced enough to make their mark in the Championship. Would it work again? Who knows, but the test wouldn't involve paying out millions for duds. If they turn out to be duds, then it's one of the cheapest failures Leeds have had of late.

No time for failure though, we got to get this right first time
