I think with MON in charge Sunderland are now looking to break through to the next level and they are willing to invest big money to realise that ambition. Normally a player with good potential like Campbell would be retained, but Sunderland are now in too much of a hurry to wait. He still seems too good to drop down to the Championship though and could probably do a job at Norwich, Reading, Saints, QPR or Aston Villa. I would be amazed if SB and the Allams could get him back here and it would be a major coup.
None of those clubs can sign him till January so if he is going to be sat on the bench or not playing for Sunderland, surely it is far better for him to go out on loan and get some games before then possible heading out to Premier League club.
Sunderland want money for him, that means either loaning him to a club who'll buy him in January, or not loaning him at all and trying to sell to a Premier League club in January.
Not necessarily, surely they could loan him to a Championship club for a loan fee to keep him fit and keep him in the shop window, and then try selling to a PL club, i know i am clutching at straws, but i doubt we will stump up the fee to bring him here in January.
You can only play for two clubs in one season and he's already played for Sunderland, so if he goes out on loan, either he signs for the loaning club in January, or they lose him on a free in the summer.
Would be an interesting one if FC did come back, I personally believe he would rip this league apart given the service we have suddenly got in the camp, but have to say it would be so harsh on SIMMO, the lad has waited his chance and is finally showing what he is made of, his pace and movement reminded me a tad of FC when he was here first time around, but the difference I can see is the quality of the finishing, that FC would bring to the team. As for Matty and his achilles, I suffered an achilles injury on holiday in March last year and took forever to get right, so it may be that Matty may be out for some time yet.
Back end of an article in The Journal. Meanwhile, Sunderland began their loan exodus by allowing Craig Lynch to join Hartlepool on month’s emergency loan. He played in Saturday’s 2-1 home defeat by Carlisle and there may be more of Sunderland’s players departing on loan over the next few weeks – although Fraizer Campbell will not be among them. Campbell is one of the names that Huddersfield have considered to fill the void left by Jordan Rhodes. However, Black Cats manager O’Neill would prefer to keep him at the Stadium of Light and instead allow Ji Dong-Won and Connor Wickham to depart the club on loan.
Considering what OLM said about Sunderland only loaning FC to a team that will buy him in January there's probably quite a lot of negotiating going on behind the scenes. For example Huddersfield might be serious about taking him on loan, but non-commital about signing him until they 'test the goods' - which won't interest MON. On the other hand if the Allams were willing to pay a fee for Campbell in January, SB wouldn't need the loan period to offer Sunderland an assurance that we would sign him. I still don't think we'll get him, but it will be interesting to see how it all unfolds.
I'm not too sure about Connor Wickham TBH. I was surprised there was so much interest in him when he was at Ipswich. He didn't seem to be pulling up any trees and it was mainly his age, size and potential that seemed to capture the attention of Prem managers. I know he has had an injury since going there, but he hasn't forced his way into MON's team
I think with Wickham and Campbell, it's a decision on whether or not you want pace, skill and determination or strength, the ability to hold the ball up the ball and finish as well as create. Campbell is the one I'd prefer, Aluko and Campbell up front would be a deadly front 2... Although I'd feel harsh on Simpson after the positive impact he's had this season.
http://www.thisishullandeastriding....zer-Campbell/story-16871773-detail/story.html We would be interested if he's available for loan, but currently he isn't according to Brucey.
I'm surprised by all the misleading headlines - every single one says that we've absolutely ruled out a move but, upon closer inspection, it's just Brucey saying that he doubts he's available but if he was then he'd be straight to the phone.
Big surprise is that Sunderland want to let him go. Its not as though the Mackems are overloaded with strikers. Maybe Matty Fryatt is closer to being fit than has been said. Still no news of Beckford moving to Huddersfield either, despite what OLM posted last week.
This might surprise you, but I'm not in charge of recruitment at Huddersfield, I just posted what was online at the time. Did you enjoy the Paralympic's? Did you compete?
Yes that does surprise me actually being who you think you are ? As for the Paralympics I withdrew as I did not want to upstage you. Glad you won the Gold medal though. It was fully deserved. Well done.
