Bruce was shocking on the ball, at times he did okay defensively but against Burnley away in the first half of the game he connected one pass forward. He was shocking at DM most of the time, the issue was Evans wasn't much better, just look at the Bolton game. But Evans clearly was better on the ball. The issue with Cairney was he passed sideways well for a couple of sub appearances, never passed forward, never grabbed the game by the scruff off the neck and never beat a man. Bruce isn't going to put him in the starting team on the back of those performances. On the loan front i would love Chalobah he was brilliant at the KC, big tall lad who was great on the ball, perfect for us.
What's wrong with passing sideways? Football isn't just about going forwards, it's also about keeping possession.
I agree with that, and i appreciate keeping possession however someone has to pass forward eventually? Surely in the role Cairney was playing his job is to link the defence to attack, to play that ball to the wing abcks further up the pitch, to try and spot a run from the striker, feed it into Aluko etc..... All he did was pass it back to the centre half's. If he was as good as half made out on here he would of played more under the three manager since we have come down, he hasn't surely that can't be a coincidence?
