Is it me or are all our outfield loanees "not strong enough" they are all in their early twenties so should really be filling out by now.
Thats why theyre out on loan and not challenging for a first team place here. Some have undoubted ability but have not got all the attributes that the championship requires
I think the "not strong enough" thing is a load of bollocks tbh. In the modern game it's almost irrelevant. We'd release Messi given the chance, I think it's one of the main reasons the standard of English footballers is going downhill rapidly. On Devitt, I spoke to a Rotherham fan and he thought he was brilliant. I think he's far too good for League 2 and could make it at Championship level given the chance.
Also, I went on a Northampton forum to see what their thoughts were on East, and one chap said that he's no better than what they already had so they should send him back to free up a loan space
Devitt has now been loaned to that division for 4 consecutive seasons. He's excelled at every club he's been at, yet his performances for us have been at best average. It doesn't take a genius to work out that we should have been looking at getting him game time in League One as far back as two years ago. He's just going to stagnate if he carries on playing with lesser players.
It's a bit academic now, as he'll be gone at the end of the season, but it's hard to judge his performances for us when his only appearance for us in the last eighteen months was in a makeshift team in the cup.
IMO,, the best that Jamie Devitt can do is play for say Barnsley, Peterborough, Bristol City type championship club. Devitt will never ever be good enough for a top range championship club or the PL. Not his fault, the Good Lord did not bless him with football talent. Sadley East and Oxley also fit into that bracket. imo.
