Basically a whole season wasted for Roles and he's 22 now.

Hard to see what's next for him, contract ends this summer, a lack of game time this season won't have helped him attract too many suitors for a decent summer move and he's someone you'd have thought that if he had another good season this year like last he'd have at least attracted one or two Championship sides.

Paulo Gazzaniga was an unused sub in Elche's 1-1 draw with Betis, so this loan is proving to be a productive use of his time

 

Maybe it is just to save a portion of his wages. He actually has not played a minute for Elche.

 

Elche in general is a headscratcher

Their first choice goalkeeper is their vice captain, and with their captain more often than not on the bench, that would explain Gazza not playing, right?
Wrong, as Elche's third-choice captain is wearing the armband while their vice captain starts ahead of Gazza for reasons that start to make my head hurt

Looks like Jack Roles' loan has been a complete waste of time. Shame really as he did excellently last season at Cambridge (who typically are now chasing promotion). What's the story there?

 

He's had a nightmare season and I think the club's just decided to not bother with him, to be honest.
His loan at Burton was derailed by him playing for the Cyprus U21s and he's gone to Stevenage and not been involved at all.
His contract is up at the end of the season and I don't think he'll be getting another one.

 

Same can be said for Shilow Tracey, whose contract also ends with the season. They'll be 22 and 23 respectively, which in this day and age is ancient. If a player hasn't broken through to the first team by 21, it's a safe bet to write them off.

 

Stevenage gave him the briefest of runs in February, with one match on the bench, one short cameo and one start (in that order) but he's been dropped since then

The easiest assumption to make is he's not match fit, since his one appearance for our U23s this season is more minutes than he got for Burton in the four months he was there, and given his one start for Stevenage saw him hooked in less than an hour it's not unreasonable to believe that he's leggy - which, ironically, is why him taking the Cyprus U21 callup that saw him Unpersoned at Burton was the right choice as that got him some playing time
