Marcus Edwards: Excelsior Rotterdam vs Heracles (Sunday 1:30pm) & Alkmaar (Wednesday 6:30pm) Kaziah Sterling: Sunderland vs Portsmouth (Saturday 7:30pm & Thursday 7:45pm) Samuel Shashoua: Baleares vs Lleida (Sunday 5:00pm) Anthony Georgiou: Levante B vs Espanyol B (Sunday 7:00pm) Tom Glover: Helsingborgs vs Kalmar (Saturday 3:00pm) & AIK (Wednesday 6:00pm) GKN: Monaco vs Nimes (Saturday 7:00pm)...oh who am I kidding, he won't be in the squad for that one either
Kazaiah Sterling wasn't in the squad for Sunderland's 1-0 playoff first leg win against Portsmouth GKN wasn't in the squad for Monaco's 1-0 loss to Nimes, although I'm willing to accept Kevin N'Doram as a surrogate...and he didn't get on the pitch either Tom Glover was on the bench for Helsingborgs' 1-0 loss to Kalmar So all in all, a real pointful day for our loanees...
Marcus Edwards was a 68th minute substitute in Excelsior's 5-4 win over Heracles, getting an assist for Excelsior's third goal in the 71st minute as they pulled it back to 4-3...yes, you did read that correctly, Heracles were 4-2 up with twenty minutes to go and lost Samuel Shashoua played 89 minutes in Baleares' 2-1 win over Lleida, which reminds me, get voting! Also... Anthony Georgiou was an unused sub in Levante B's 2-1 loss to Espanyol B On the subject of Shashoua's loan, Super Hotspur's written a piece about his season https://superhotspur.com/2019/05/03...ys-he-has-been-the-beating-heart-of-the-team/
Marcus Edwards was a 65th minute substitute in Excelsior's 4-2 win over AZ Tom Glover was on the bench (how surprising!) in Helsingborgs' 3-1 loss to AIK
Marcus Edwards: Excelsior Rotterdam vs RKC Waalwijk (Sunday 1:30pm & Wednesday 5:30pm) Samuel Shashoua: Baleares vs Hercules (Saturday 6:00pm) Anthony Georgiou: Levante B vs Ebro (Saturday 5:00pm) GKN: Monaco vs Amiens (Saturday 8:00pm...as if he'll ****ing play) Tom Glover: Helsingborgs vs Eskilstuna (Saturday 3:00pm, where he'll no doubt get a good look at the game from the bench)
Samuel Shashoua was a 60th minute sub in Baleares' 1-0 win over Hercules, and was also involved in whatever the hell is going on here Anthony Georgiou was a half time sub in Levante B's 2-1 loss to Ebro GKN is...HOLY ****! He actually made the matchday squad for Monaco's 2-0 win against Amiens????? True, he didn't get off the bench, but at least there's proof they haven't harvested him for spares to keep Falcao on the pitch for two games running...
Marcus Edwards was a 61st minute substitute in Excelsior's 2-1 loss to Waalwijk - although I have to ask if Excelsior's manager has gone mad, as they started with Mounir El Hamdaoui as a central midfielder...
Bittersweet end to his loan spell for Marcus Edwards tonight. He played all 90mins but Excelsior could only manage a 1-1 draw against Waalwijk (have I included all the A's and W's?) which meant they were defeated 2-3 on aggregate and subsequently relegated from the Eredivise. They faced 10 men for over 20 minutes but couldn't find a way through. Weirdly, Dutch sites show that Edwards was played as a CM with 5 or 6 other attacking players around and ahead of him. Seems to be a totally unbalanced side (see HBIC's comments above) but ultimately the experience of battling and losing a relegation dogfight will have done his supposedly high maintenance attitude the world of good. I can't see a future for him here but when you stack up all of these bright young players we have out on loan there really is no reason their collective sales shouldn't generate an extra £20-30m for the purse.
One frequent criticism of Edwards (other than his attitude...) is how small he looks, and not in the sense of height but in the sense that he hasn't been bulking up at the gym to add that extra bit of muscle mass to prevent him getting bodied by defenders There's certainly something to this observation, because if you look at photos of Dier, Alli or Winks (to name three) now compared to their first season under Poch you'll see how much muscle they've packed on, yet Edwards still looks waiflike - and that includes when you stand him next to Samuel Shashoua, who has clearly been hitting the gym as he's bulked up compared to last season
Samuel Shashoua: Atletico Baleares vs Racing Santander (Sunday 5:30pm) Kazaiah Sterling: Sunderland vs Charlton (Sunday 3:00pm) GKN: Monaco vs Nice (Friday 8:05pm...although probably not) Tom Glover: Helsingborgs vs Malmo (Sunday 4:30pm)
Samuel Shashoua played 65 minutes in Baleares' 0-0 champions playoff first leg draw with Racing Santander Kazaiah Sterling wasn't in the squad for Sunderland's 2-1 play-off final loss to Charlton Tom Glover took his customary place on the bench for Helsingborgs' 1-1 draw with Falkenberg
Samuel Shashoua: Baleares vs Racing Santander (Sunday 11:00am) Tom Glover: Helsingborgs vs Malmo (Sunday 4:30pm)
Samuel Shashoua played 79 minutes in Baleares' 1-1 draw with Racing Santander, which sees Racing go through to the Champions Playoff (in spite being promoted just by being in the match) while Baleares drop into the second round of the non-champions playoffs...and there's a third ****ing round after that! Would you believe it if I told you that Tom Glover was on the bench for Helsingborgs' 1-0 loss against Malmo?
