it needs something to happen before the weekend to give everyone a boost before a big game that we have to win to stay in there with a shout
I'm sort of torn Joe. On one hand I'm kean to see Argyle joining in the signing on fest and on the other I don't want them to jump in with two big feet and sign the wrong ones. I agree though it would be good to get a boost before Saturday although I don't want another sign on Friday evening and play Saturday situation. Would be good if it had a couple of days to settle in. We're never happy as supporters are we.........
Was surprised today to read that Conor Clifford has been transferred listed by Southend. Remember him from a couple of years ago and he was really good for us. Think he was taken away by the FA at the time due to our financial troubles and them not letting us sign anyone even on loan. If he's going begging and fancies coming back here then I'd take him. Can't think what has gone wrong for Southend to want to offload.
Sheridan must have a quandary at present.....he has just lost three very successful loanees.....who he really would like back......they have been instrumental to Argyle doing well.....but realistically he will probably not get them back.....so he must try to replace them until the end of the season.....not just short term monthly loans as he has with the Mk Dons defender who is cover for Hartley......does he get cover in quickly which would mean he would lose any chance of being able to re-sign those three if they became available again or hang on to the last moment...........and in doing so end up with the left overs ?......who would be a manager.
There doesn't seem that much of a quandry plym. If they ain't coming back then that is that and nothing he can do to change it. There seems to have been a few recalls in the football league this season so we aren't the only ones being mucked about. Problem we have is that there is no way we are going to buy anyone no matter how cheap they are going for. The days of fees in this league have probably passed for most so again not just us. A signing tomorrow would be good. The one thing that seems to be obvious to me is that come the end of season there is going to be a load of players released and on the dole. There must be a few in there who could do a job for us and be grateful for the chance. Sturrock did a great job of finding them which proves it is possible.
Argyle had an offer for Anthony O'Connor accepted by Blackburn Rovers......but the player who is out of contract in the summer wants to keep his options open. Sheridan is now trying to arrange for the player to return to Home Park until the end of the season. That is better than we where expecting this time yesterday......lets hope it works out. Although PAFC's offer was quite moderate....Blackburn did accept it.....suggesting that he has no future at Rovers.....so come the summer O'Connor could still join Argyle if he doesn't get a favourable offer......can't blame him for keeping his options open.
Sheridan does seem to be optimistic that he can come to some kind of loan agreement with Blackburn to bring Anthony O'Connor back next week until the end of the season. Likewise Sheridan has not given up on bringing back Bobby Reid as well next week until the end of the season and is talking to Bristol City about the possibility. Andy Kellett will play the last game of his loan period on Saturday against Luton.......and Sheridan will sound out Bolton on the possibility of keeping him also until the end of the season as well. These possibilities are hampering Sheridan's squad building...... until he knows either way regarding these three players..... he is unwilling to look for replacements. Sheridan has mentioned that he needs to bring in a forward to cover for the injured Deane Smalley.....any injuries to Reuben Reid or to Lewis Alessandra could mean that Marvin Morgan is the only alternative.....a goal scorer would be appreciated, personally I think Tyler Harvey is not really on Sheridan's radar and should go out on loan.
Just noticed that Cottrell has brought in mid-fielder George Saville on loan from Wolves....on a 93 day loan which will finish at the end of the season. This could be good news for PAFC regarding Bobby Reid.....maybe he is not rated so highly anymore at Bristol City.....time will tell....fingers crossed.
Just when I say there is no way we are going to buy anyone and blow me down with a feather they go and offer Blackburn money. Bit of a shock there. I can understand why O'Connor would want to keep his options open. If he signs now and we don't go up then he is stuck in league 2 whereas he will be a free agent at the end of the season and can command his own signing on fee if somebody wants his signature. He is good enough for people to want him certainly at league one level at least. If we got there then I think he would stay. Depends on the parent club now I suppose and how much they want to pee him off for not doing as he is told. I can see Kellett coming back but still not sure about Reid. Do they want to off load him full time as well? They keep messing about and then sign somebody else so to be honest they only seem interested in Reid as a last resort back up. They pay the wages so I suppose it's fair enough even if annoying.
Olly Lee , 5' 11" 24 year old Birmingham midfielder has joined for a month's loan (until after the Exeter match). Seems like a good addition esp if Bobby Reid doesn't come back. Hasn't started for Birmingham this season but 20 appearances ans 2 goals last campaign-interesting to see how match fit he is...
Just come in and noticed this.....limited experience......played a few games last season with his club Birmingham.......how fit is he at present......will he be thrown in the deep end against Luton. Sheridan showing signs of frustration with clubs not answering his inquiries in his search for a striker.......who wants to come to Plymouth.....isn't it only one stop before America....a lot of them seem to be happy warming up the subs bench instead of stating a case for regular first team football.
My view is if they don't want to play and come here then we don't want them anyway and we are well rid. There will be loads of players on the scrapheap begging for a club come the summer. They might regret their decision when nobody wants them.
Most of them are to greedy! or think they are to good to come here.. like you say they can stay away...
Trouble is Joe there isn't that much money sploshing about in the lower reaches of the league and clubs are generally cutting down on both numbers and wages. Even their youth set ups are not so worth while anymore given the prem can steal them for nothing or next to it. It's about time some of them got back on the same planet as the rest of us and got real. It's already a short career so they can't mess about too much. I have no sympathy if they don't get it.
John Sheridan is confident that he will be getting Andy Kellett back until the end of the season....lets hope he has got that right.
Just stole this from Pasoti who stole it from the herald who heard it from JS This is the truth about those that were not available and might not be next week. Jason Banton – Hamstring injury in training last Thursday, failed a fitness test before the game against Luton. Andy Kellett – Groin injury in training last Thursday, failed a fitness test before the game against Luton. Matt Lecointe – Has not played this season because of a knee injury but is getting close to making a comeback. I sometimes think it is 5 a side already Joe. Lately only half our team has turned up on the day at most.
