I definitely didn't want King to be assistant manager, I think he needs to prove himself in management or at least coaching somewhere else. Ditto with Mabbutt, who AFAIK hasn't been a successful manager or coach.

I think we take this as a given now. Do let us know if it changes though ;)

I did not mean King or Mabbut should be assistants, no way.

I meant they probably have better insight if insight was the thinking behind Freund's appointment.

AVB should be able to choose his own staff...just like Harry did.

And there you have the hideous contrast, Wenger knows all about Steve Bould, and Steve Bould knows all about Arsenal, and in the short space of time he's had, he's educated a defence containing Per Mertesacker into one that keeps clean sheets. As painful as it is to say it, very good appt. Levy and his new sidekick Sherwood appointed ours and have made one holy ballsup. Just my opinion, but once again Levy has fallen under the spell of someone who says the right things he wants to hear at the right times, but is mostly a bit of a cock really. Comolli was the last one.

What posseses Levy to balls it up in such way..surely the guy is intelligent enough to know that if he is willing to get the personnel on the pitch that AVB requires(he did back AVB a fair bit in the window)..then it is obvious that AVB requires his own men off it?

Is this Levy on a power trip?

If your appointing him then back him FFS!

This is where Levy should stick to what he's good at...numbers. He's becoming an Abramovich, armed with bits of knowledge from his various employees now thinking he can run things on the pitch. RA can afford these mistakes, we can't. I'm sure SAF doesn't have these issues with his Chairman. I like what DL is doing off the pitch, but his increasing (so it seems to me) meddling in team matters isn't good.

You don't buy a dog and wag its tail for it.

    Will do ;)

IF we beat Reading it will change, if we don't it won't.

Incidentally Dempsey played a full 90 for USA this morning - i wonder if he'll be able to start v Reading given jet lag, lack of preparation time etc, v Reading.

  8. AVB brought in Luis Martins and Jose Rocha didn't he? I would imagine that they are the key people on the training pitch and Stef is more a communication link from the coaching team.

I suspect Dempsey will start on the bench.

Why has this AVB/Freund "dispute" suddenly become fact? Because someone on here says it's so? And then others comment upon it as if it's true, and others comment upon that and suddenly we have Iraq with WMD. If someone can point to two confirmed *original* sources then maybe, but until then its speculation that happens to fit in with the general negativity surrounding our first games, just re-reporting someone else's opinion doesn't make it true. If we'd won a couple of those games, which can always happen by chance even if we're not playing well (it seems only other teams win games they don't deserve and not Spurs) then the relationship between AVB and Freund would probably not even have been mentioned.

Intelligence and common sense do not go hand in hand, I'm sure you know just as many types like this as I do. A mate of mine, very successful, but say your out having a coffee with him, he's as likely to put salt in it as sugar!

I think that would be for the best, once more we are being hampered by not getting in players quickly enough.

Well I don't usually trust anyone that says they have "info" but in this instance I trust spurcat on what he states - spurcat could well be the biggest wum on the forum (which he isn't) but the guy strikes me as a honest chap that does have a role within the club and only repeats info he knows is true.

As I commented earlier in the thread Lloris had an excellent game yesterday, and was apparently awarded the MOTM.

    http://www.101greatgoals.com/blog/v...an-of-the-match-in-frances-win-over-belarus/?

As the article indicates, the lack of welcome for probably our highest-rated player in world football (it's close between him and Bale) is puzzling to say the least.

Ridiculous comments by BAE BTW, if true, Brad is certainly not 'without faults'.

Literal translation I think you will find. But in essence he is correct: Lloris needs some time to mesh with his new team and management - and with Brad still being on decent form, this takes the pressure off both player and club to introduce him to the PL at least.
Lloris is a great signing for the club and I have no doubt that if he adopts a pragmatic approach over the next few weeks the situation will settle and he will start to establish himself as the No 1.

I'm with G10 on this, Hugo Lloris is a WORLD CLASS goal keeper, Brad has been absolutely fantastic for us and I've said in the past I'd happily keep him between the sticks providing he could maintain the level of play he's been producing, however, this was before I knew we'd be signing one of the best players in the world in the goal keeping position. Brad = Very, very good. Lloris = World class.

I really cannot believe the negativity surrounding his arrival from fans, media and even the players now. I've been voted as a pessimistic poster (woop woop! <laugh>) yet even I can realise that his signing is an amazing piece of business by the club AND that he'll improve our team immensely. We're extremely lucky to have this calibre of goal keeper at Spurs, providing AVB actually realises how good he is and plays him, I'm positive he'll prove that we have the joint best keeper in the league alongside Hart, if not the best.

What negativity? Saying he has to fight for his place is just how it is for every player in a Pro. team. That's not negative it's just reality. What's the problem?
