Ah, how the haters have once again shown their true colours. Nobody, (except Wiz in fairness) prepared to see and acknowledge that a likely finish of 10th, coupled with a cup semi final represents a significant improvement since last year, or indeed the season before!!

Laughable, no wonder we never get top players, managers and success with such a fickle fan base......

I could understand it if it was the young ones on here who expect instant success and progress from their club or they will support someone who gives them that, but many on here are life long fans of 20 years plus, this is our second best season for 40 years ffs, and it's still not good enough for some.....

Could have been so much different if the right pieces were put in place by the hierarchy, 2017 we stopped playing.

I've supported the team since 1966 and things have always been the same!! Great when things are going well, but oh, even short term downturns bring out the pint half empty brigade!!!

It’s not even the it’s half empty Brigade. It’s someone just knocked over my full pint and I can’t afford another brigade!

It's the conflicting views of the minority that make it a football forum instead of it stagnating into a bland "keeping the faith" blog.

Manager change for change sake is all too common and sometimes way premature, but it can often shake a club out of it's comfort zone - we at Cardiff needed it. On the other hand, if you're building something from the ground up over there on sound principles with good financial support and it needs time, then that's a good way to go if you have the patience.

You had a great start to the season and got no idea why you bombed from such a good position this second half, but there must be lessons to learn from it - point is who's going to learn them, Johnson or Lansdown?

I am not one of the ‘LJ Out’ brigade. I’m disappointed with our recent run but as we’ve all said before the season doesn’t lie. It’s been a good one overall and I’m happy for him to remain in charge - for now.
My main concern is how bad our January signings were and if the summer activity follows a similar pattern then we will struggle next season because it’s unlikely we will be able to hang onto the core spine of the team.
If we go on another losing streak and look like getting relegated then I will call for a change - as I did before - and as I would with anyone - not just because it’s LJ, but for now LJ in!!!!

I'm not and never have been a Johnson 'Luvie' and I'm certainly not a ' Hater' in fact I have often stated I support Bristol City FC only, always have, always will but surely no one can deny this guy has progressed our team on all levels since last year shambolics, we ended up 17th, this year we will be no worse than 11th.

We have signed some donkies, we have played some stinkers, we have beaten 4 Premier levels teams in cup encounters, walloped Man Utd and gave a creditable performance against Man City in the final rounds of the league cup, ok we have been poor since Christmas but the fact remains we are top half of the Championship and not fighting another relegation battle.

We have progressed and the guy should remain, what happens next season, we should make a judgement, next season.

I support BCFC , if the present manager , whoever he is , is taking the club forward , and I feel it's in the best interest of the club to keep him , I'm not too bothered who he is. To keep swapping and changing managers has been shown on the whole not to work. However if it becomes in the best interest of the club for him to go then so be it.

Whilst weve been poor since Christmas the club is still progressing and has improved greatly since last season, as Wiz said next season we will just have to see what happens before we can judge whether we continue to move forward or not, if we don't that's the time to make judgements ,

Why wouldn't he stay. As InvermereMike says, where else is he going to get protection like Lansdown offers ?

The answer is nowhere and I'm sure Johnson is clever enough to know that.

He obviously says the right things in the right company, but it's on the pitch that matters.

A complete and utter shambles today, embarrassing Sheffield Utd ran the show.
SL is happy and it don’t seem he is going anywhere.
I hope a club comes calling for his services, that was as bad as it gets today demoralising first half.

Is smugness starting to show it's ugly head or did I imagine those meltdowns at home in 2018? Even Lansdown picked some specific home collapses to highlight his case as to why we plummeted in form and I almost wonder why he is so protective of his man in charge? At least next season will be better according to our team leaders so we'll have to wait and see again. Stay tuned but have a great summer.

I’m surprised you care at all RR - after all, you and your kind wrote our season off weeks ago. Why care? It was a nothing game - you yourself questioned why anyone would bother going to Forest last week.
If we are guaranteed to fail next season then just stay away and go and support Ipswich - they have Mick McCarthy you know........... guaranteed success.
Seriously - our demise has been really annoying and frustrating - but getting rid of Lee isn’t going to suddenly fix things - we tried life without a Johnson before remember? It was season after season of struggle with some League 1 in the mix too. I do NOT want a return to those days.

Haters ... With all respects as others have pointed out sounds like a child posting.

Finishing mid table is not the best season in forty years. Context and perception can be applied.

Lee Johnson has had the luxury of brining in (37) players in two years to install his values into the XI. Yesterday only 4 of those players started. The teams shape and approach as it has been for weeks and months was hard to understand.

Expecting the team after 37 signings and two years to be showing a clear shape and focus in and out of possession is not
    expecting instant success.

The actual football Bristol City played to achieve your own best in forty years has been abandoned. That football may never have been Mr Johnson's intent at all, it was circumstance and a happy experiment creating a style that could easily be never seen again in a Bristol City side.

In forty years of support I have not seen a Manager and team go through such highs and lows.

I hear what you are saying Clifton, however very few seem to be understanding just how tough this league is, all of the sides that made the play offs have far bigger budgets and fan base than us and most have been in the Prem in the last 2-5 years and have benefitted from the riches whilst there and the parachute payments that followed, we have not and we competed for a play-off spot for most of this season.

Yes, he has signed/loaned a lot of players, but the books have largely been balanced by selling players and some sell on clauses, arguing that he didn't sign them is the childish part from many on here. We don't have the luxury of buying and paying the wages of the likes of Wolves, Villa, Boro and Derby yet we ran them close. look at Reading and Sheff Weds, play off last year and had a rough year this year, it could well be us next year.

Getting rid of LJ is no guarantee that a replacement will do better, look at Leeds, Norwich, Brum and co as proof.

'I hear what you are saying Clifton, however very few seem to be understanding just how tough this league is'
    But everyone in Australia does.

'largely been balanced by selling players and some sell on clauses, arguing that he didn't sign them is the childish part from many on here'.
    But accurate.

Why is it that when I criticised someone from abroad (still stand by what I said) you was up in arms? But you’ve made a few digs at Supercon, like because he’s living in Australia he don’t know what’s going on.

This makes me happy with LJ ~' We are 13 points and five places better off than the end of last season and 15 points and six places better off than end of the 2015/2016 season.'

This causes me concerns with LJ ~ ' Look at the players that we have signed and what have they actually contributed Fabian Giefer, Jens Hegeler, Gustav Engvall, Ivan Lucic, Niclas Eliasson, Ryan Kent, Liam Walsh, Lois Diony and Cauley Woodrow.

Poor team selections, players being played out of position and naïve tactics.'

I can't get my head around LJ. Part of me wants him to stay, his recruitment strategy is definitely the kind which will pay off in the long-term (no matter what many seem to think imo), he is clearly more advanced in terms of modern thinking and embracing technology when compared to many other managers, by all accounts on paper he's a top manager. But when it comes to actual tactics, and some of the decisions he makes on the touchline, he's absolutely baffling. It's such a bizarre combination.
