    Klopp's official word on things.

Jürgen Klopp has expressed delight after Liverpool secured the services of Simon Mignolet for the foreseeable future by tying the goalkeeper down to a new long-term contract.

The 27-year-old, who joined the Reds from fellow Barclays Premier League outfit Sunderland in the summer of 2013, put pen to paper on a new deal with the club on Monday.

Klopp says offering fresh terms to the Belgian required little consideration given what he has seen of him since taking charge at Anfield in October.

And he is sure that Mignolet can provide solidity between the sticks for years to come thanks to his fastidious approach to personal development.

The manager told reporters: "There have been a lot of games since I’ve been here and Simon, as is normal for a goalkeeper, was involved in one or the other goals we’ve conceded.

"We’ve thought about it all and in the end it is the package [and] Simon Mignolet is for us perfect because he is a smart guy, young enough to develop in the things he has to develop and he gives us all, the whole team, a good feeling when he is in the starting line-up, so that is really important.

"We thought about in and in the end the result was that we are sure we want to work together with him for the next years, that’s why we offered him a new contract.

"He took it and now he is Liverpool FC player for the next few years. Hopefully I can think about the next contract too with him, then we would have had success.

"So that’s all - I am really satisfied with this position and now we can go on."

It cannot be more clear in my view what Klopps views are. Get used to Mingolet in goal.

This will throw Jimmy into turmoil, he is so sure Klopp is the man to clear out the dross and get in elite talent yet he thinks Mings is **** and should be gone asap.
Which opinion will he stick with :emoticon-0100-smile

Then he has an even harder decision to make, believe what Klopp has said or think Klopp is a yes man like Brendan and just saying what he is told to

Only having a gentle pop at Jimmy, his views are so polarised and he seems convinced Klopp shares them :emoticon-0100-smile

I suspect the manager may be able to use some of the players Jimmy thinks will be dumped to good effect <ok>

Yes, or Klopp could publicly slate a mentally weak player.

Because a) this will help maximise the transfer fee we hope to receive in the summer and b) the player will play with a lot of confidence until then <laugh>

My main issue with Mignolet is that he doesn't get rid of the ball. Every time, he scoops the ball up, everyone sprints forward for the counter, he raises his hands and goes "calm down". He literally did this against Exeter at a point when we were 2-0 up I believe.

He actually put his ****ing hands up to tell players to calm down and not sprint away, as if it were end to end stuff we needed to contain, against EXETER.

And then he looks up, waits for the defenders to get in position, changes his mind about where to put it, then randomly kicks it out to no one in particular.
