He's been working with Klopp since he arrived and has his backing. I know very little about him but if he was involved in our last transfers in and especially out, then he's off to a good start.
You don't have much faith in Klopp if you think he will be bulldozed into buys he doesn't want. He's said several times that he wants to have people around him to help with scouting etc because he can't do it all himself but that he will have ''the first word and the last word''. I translate that as - Klopp: go and scout me some left backs, [list of possibles placed in front of him] Klopp: no to all of those, go again - [another few names scouted] Klopp: he's the one I want. ........ He's never saying yes to a Balotelli/Carroll/Lambert type of purchase.
No you missed the point. Edwards goes and buys his own players, breeches the trust and klopp tell fsg to go stuff it. disaster.
I get the disappointment at who they've promoted into the job rather than getting some big name but in all honesty I can't see this 'bit of a kid' getting one over on Klopp. It looks like the position's been created at Klopp's request and unless he had a name he'd previously worked with lined up, anyone coming in is a big risk. The fact this lad has been working with Klopp for a year already I'd say bodes well. You have to admit the last transfer window went well - other than the obvious - and even that proves a point ..... no player is better than the wrong player.
Not only was last summers transfers good but the players from previous windows have improved as well.
The decision isn't really that this guy is being promoted, it's that Ayre is leaving and no one else is being brought in to start messing everyone about
I agree but that's a mix of ideas you've come up with there. The overarching factor being Klopp is a good manager at getting the best out of players whether they're ones he chose or not.
I'm not sure it changes anything really - he's been doing the role for the last 18 months. The good thing is that Klopp WANTS this structure in place. He's not afraid of delegating or asking for help.
If Klopp wants this and he's happy then all well and good. The FSG know what they have got in Klopp so why would they back someone else with transfers and piss Klopp off? From what I've read Klopp has the say on players and the new guy goes and gets him/sorts out contracts. Like I said if Klopps happy even better
Promoting this position from within may be a novel idea but ask yourself when did LFC ever follow the rules in this sort of thing. If it's as successful as the Boot Room system we'll all be happy. Yes it's a long time ago but who'd ever heard of Paisley or ***an before they took over? When have we ever bought big names in [other than the recent managers]? I like to think this is getting back to running the club like a family and promoting from within fits with that, it may well be the cheaper option [from the cheapskates!] but that option has proved in the past it can be the better option. Feeling miserable about it or feeling pleased about it won't alter how it pans out but feeling pleased makes the wait a whole lot more pleasant.
