That has been a warning that swans fans have been giving us but we have had this problem since Torres left/Dalglish blew the money. It was our problem last year, much better play, keep the ball, attack and then no goals. At least last year Steve Clarke had us nice and tight in the back.

Not enough men getting into the box, no natural goal scorer. Everything else is more or less ok.
Suarez ****ing brilliant-again. But he can't do everything.

What about our defense? Losing Steve Clarke is looking massive right now.

What are the chances Suarez won't pick up that 5th yellow until January and we can get another player in? At some point he's bound to get another yellow and be banned and then we are screwed. Gerrard upfront in the "false number 9" position?

Hmm I have doubts he'll ever step up. He has an advantage at youth level being physically superior to other around his age and can bully them - however moving to mens football he will need more than that - something which I don't think he has.

  8. I'd go with Gerrard as the false number nine. Play Allen, Sahin and Shelvey in middle <ok>

Liverpools faults? You are trying to play a system that takes years to bed in. Rogers tried it at Reading and failed. Dare I say it, Gerrard tries to hit a long, killer pass every time he has the ball. In the system Rogers wants to play that doesn't work because it is all about ball retention and tik tak passing.

Todays performance may have suited Liverpool fans - but it is light years off what Rogers wants.

  10. How is having a vision a fault?

Having vision is not a fault.

You have to understand the whole concept of tik tak football. It is a massive network of passes gradually working your way up the field, maintaining possession and wearing out/mentally destroying the other team.

When you have got one of your team pumping 50 yarders and giving away possession it defeats the system

Nothing's perfect, Bluff- you can always improve on every area. My point was that if we had a decent ratio of goals per chances created the rest of it wouldn't be a too much of a problem.
I did say "ok"- not "wonderful".

Completely agree with your summing up of the game.

Having thought the midfield trio would be our strongest area yesterday I was shocked by how utterly wasteful we were with the ball. All 3 central midfielders were like total strangers and as with a few other games this year I watched as pass after pass was intercepted. The lack of movement between the 3 was depressing. When the wider of the 3 front men pick the ball up out wide we needed at least one if not two of those midfielders getting into the box but as usual we played probably three quarters of the game with nobody in the opposition box (or even anywhere near it). So are they sitting deeper to control midfield? If so it isn't working. Every time Newcastle picked it up in defence they just played it up to Cisse (or Ba when he was on) who drifted out to the touch line with no Red shirt anywhere near them.

The other part of our game whch had become almost laughable bY the end was our delivery into the box and passing around the area. Truly awful. With the possible exception of Suso and Suarez our final balls and decision making yesterday were attrocious.

Just one final mention has to go to Shelvey and his shooting. I know he's only young but sort your baldy head out lad. Had two or three excellent chances to win us the game and fluffed them all (not for the first time).

Overall the best word I can think of is toothless (insert Suarezs teeth jokes here....).

The problem is that our crossing and shooting are horrendous. And when a decent cross comes in, we have a lack of targets. And in the unusual case that a good cross find its target, we have the worst headers of the ball in the league bar Gerrard and Skrtel. Our long range shooting is equally as poor, Gerrard seems to have lost that ability.

It's been our biggest problem since Kenny's first full season. I think Charlie Adam and Chris Coleman explained it best - Suarez is our main central striker however he spends a lot of time outside of the box or on the wings, which leaves a space in the middle. The wingers i.e. Suso and Sterling and the AM should be providing more bodies in the box. However, Sterling and Suso are not strikers - they don't have that instinct that a top striker has and they don't know where to position themselves. It makes you appreciate players like Maxi and Kuyt even more.

Gerrard's corners are atrocious and should be taken off corner duty immediately. His free kicks are better. Referring back to point 1, we have no targets and no one to attack the ball apart from Skrtel and Gerrard.

You and the rest of the crowd enraptured with the Emperor's new clothes are looking in the wrong direction. You blame everybody except Rodgers, possibly because you fancy him. You're certainly not analysing his record and how it matches what we're getting. You bunch of shoelickers blame the squad because it's not good enough. It was good enough to get to two finals last season but oh, Brendan wants 11 Messis and Brendan must get what he needs to deliver because he's an undiscovered genius hidden behind stats worse than Hodgson's making big promises too many muppets are sucking up like a new Dyson.

It beats me why you're so mystified. it's bloody obvious.

The 'new Shanks' talks a good game & I can understand why so many reds have been taken in my him tbf. But for me, he's full of the preverbial & will be found out in the fullness of time. I've noticed already that he's quick to point the finger to deflect away from himself, when things don't go right & it'll be this that will eventually cost him the dressing room imo.

    I have to say.

    1. I agree mostly. some players are worse than others but unless you are really corrying the ball forward like say agger does you ought to move it.

    2. I agree totally, lost count as suarez is always pulling out towards the ball leving a huge gap that nobody runs into.. i say several great passes to wide men form say gerrard totally wasted as they ended up passing it back.

    3. Our set piece yesterday was pathetic and ti was the only way we would score! we tired gerrard, shain, suarez and every bloody one hit the front post and their first man.... when we have wisdom agger and skertl... and suarez and even GERRARD (who never gets in there) to the list is a total waste... it's a falacy that our side is that small when we've genuine targets to hit and then deleiver ****e like that. a few hours work a week needed.

funny how we took adam and made him terrible at set peieces eh?

I'd have to add... rodgers needs to have a look at himself cos if he thinks he can get away with this for another 2 months before he buys anyone... he said after the game he wants suzrez pulling out and not being static... but if nobody but shelvey exploits the gaps and he then wastes the chances its rathr pointless.... we need a hard look at suso, sahin and gerrard regarding getting in that box! rodgers mentioned barca... but barca play villa wide or prdo or sanchez and they are constantly in the box.. rodgers has our lot very wide or very deep and we've nothing at all to pass to.

The same squad also finished with its lowest points tally in the league in a very long time.
