Is that directed at me now? I said, yes I'm absolutely for real and stated FACTS about how Liverpool are doing. Tell me where I was wrong...?
....but that was my original point. You focused on the fact you have only lost 3. I'm not championing the fact we have only won one ( 1 - 1) more game than you, more that WBA have won 7 etc.
Am I reading this wrong or does it actually lack total sense? We are ahead of you in the table, so how is us winning one more than you less beneficial? Surely us losing 4 and winning 1, whereas you drawing 4 and winning 0 would be more beneficial to you as it actually gets you more points. Not winning less and having lets points. That's just ridiculous.
For me, Dyer has to start. He is not, and has never been, any good as a sub. His goal against Southampton aside, he was anonymous and his touch was shocking. He is fueled by confidence; a confidence provided by the manager showing faith in him. Remember when he first came to us on loan? He was occasionally majestic but never showed his true ability until he got a run in the side. On pure ability to beat a man, and keep possession, when confident, he is our best winger, hands down. Against Newcastle Pablo crossed well for the goal, but was unwilling to track back and double up on Ben Arfa with Ben Davies. He still goes missing for large periods in games, and, of the three wingers at our disposal, is the slowest. Bearing in mind the willingness of Enrique and Johnson to get forward, playing our two fastest wingers would be my choice. Between Chico and Monk, someone mentioned that Ash has played better whilst not being captain. I agree, but suggest that it's not the captaincy that has knocked his form, but the unpredictability of Chico alongside him. He is having to concentrate on Chico's game as much as his own, doubling the amount of anticipation that he has to do. They have never looked comfortable as a CB paring, and I would pick Monk over Chico every time. Against Newcastle and Southampton, we defended comfortably, despite being under pressure for large periods of the game. Why change it if it's working?
Perhaps dai they just need a few more games together to get to know eachother. Ki, de Guzman, Hernandez and Davies are already miles better than they were at the beginning of the season, so is Chico imo. But he obviously just needs more games to get to know his team mates better. However I do think monk has more than held his own these last few games, if only he had pace!
Fortunately, I am not Dai, although he does have a similar avatar to me. I will forgive you in time..... I agree that the only way for Ash and Chico to "bed in" together is to play games alongside each other, yet I still think that on form alone, the position should be Monk's, for Chico to try and win back. It is a conundrum really, because individually, as a defender, Chico appears superior. It's a tough call, but, with three games in a week, I think I'd play Monk for Liverpool and see how he fares, Chico for WBA, and then make a decision on who faces Arsenal based on their performances.
Haha apologies big apple, saw the avatar and assumed!.. It's interesting, anyone remember the game at home to qpr when Tate had to go in goal? Our defence literally defended for their lives as they knew they couldn't let qpr shoot. I think for the hour that Tate was in goal, qpr managed one shot or so. Since tremmel has gone in our defence has appeared to adopt the same mentality. Perhaps they were getting a little too reliant on vorm to keep them out. In the 3 or 4 games, how many saves has tremmel had to make really? The odd one here and there. Vorm seemed to be constantly making saves. Hopefully they keep this mentality now for when he returns aswell.
Didn't think we did much defending that night . QPR were crap and we just attacked them. I could have played in goal that night!
Having reviewed my thoughts above and after a lot of soulsearching, taking into account Gary's service to the Swans, his current form and knowledge of our system, I have opted to go for Chico. His bun gives the team a more continental look.
I went to the barber's and asked for a Liverpool FC haircut. Mess at the back, nothing on the sides and not much up front. He charged me over £100 million!
I totally agree and I think it best describes our next opponents. I'm not being complacent but as a SWANS supporter I have a growing feeling of confidence in our Team and ML unlike some it still appears on here !
Absolutely brilliant spot ! Yes since the T man has gone between the sticks the lads have been chucking themselves in front of the ball more. But they must be pleasantly surprised that he has more than stepped up to the plate. He was deffo fouled for the toon's consolation !
