I think that's what Liverpool will expect tbh ......... his goal against West Brom helped us to pocket another million so let's shake on £9 million :emoticon-0150-hands

In today's market and considering the alternatives, I'd happily pay £12m for the lad.

He's worth every penny and if played behind Wickham next year in a central role, is good for 15 goals IMO.

This would be the best bit of business the club will do this summer if it comes off.

Thinking about this for a moment from the players perspective, he now knows Liverpool don`t want him, and he also knows that we do.

He`s been here and done well so that surely must be in our favour even if there are other clubs interested.

I`d be very surprised if there hasn`t already been some sort of contact between the clubs.

I would Cest, but not upfront. He didn't show he's a 12million player last season, He should me he's an 8 million player, two less that they paid for him. However, I'd be prepared to pay that extra 4m in appearances and goal add ons. If Liverpool feel he's worth 12 million they'll have no doubts he'll achieve his appearance and goal amount to unlock the extra 4m. He's not worth 12 upfront. Not at the moment. Liverpool need to understand this.

We don't want to pay over the odds for players. Fair price.

My worry for Borini, and other targets, is that we need to concentrate on players like Billy Jones .......
........where we can consistently spell their names correctly!

What am I saying, I didn't mean that at all <doh>

What worries me is that Liverpool will talk to Southampton and try to use Borini as a px for one of their stars.

I also think we'll be competing with Southampton on various fronts during the close season.
Both teams favour a certain style of play, therefore player, and Southampton will have the finance if they flog off 2 or 3 of their top players.

If this is correct they`ll have a fair shopping list.

`Pochettino targets Southampton players: Tottenham are to make a stunning £25 million move for Southampton's Adam Lallana after Mauricio Pochettino became the London club's new manager. The Daily Express reports that the Argentine boss wants to capitalise on Liverpool's cooling interest in the England midfielder and Lallana's reluctance to move his young family too far away from the South Coast. The paper claims that Pochettino and Lallana have a close relationship and that Spurs chairman Daniel Levy will back the new manager in the transfer market. The Daily Mail adds that Pochettino will also try to raid his former club for Jay Rodriguez, while Dejan Lovren, Callum Chambers, Nathaniel Clyne, Morgan Schneiderlin and James Ward-Prowse could all be on his radar too.`

Makes sense to attempt to get a better price rather then just cough up to their valuation. At the end of the day there's going to be a transfer budget and a couple of million saved is a couple of million we can use to obtain other targets. We've been soft in the market for years, paying top end valuation fees just tells the world that we're still a bunch of mugs.

Good point Smug, but a Laudrup appointment could see us off the hook if Swansea are ransacked. It could lead to less competition for our own targets.

Calm down SAFC, there's no rush. There'll be a lot of available strikers out there, especially so after the WC. We shouldn't be throwing a lot of money at the first guy out there, even if we know the lad.

And he's not worth £12mil, not up-front anyway, as previously mentioned.

I think there's going to be a few ambitious agents, young lads, and a few clubs who'll have seen what Gus achieved in the last few months, who'll now give us a second look and think they can do themselves a favour by coming here, either permanently, or on loan so I'm a little more optimistic this summer of getting in higher quality players than I was last summer.

All matter of opinions and I'll go along with SAFC1978. Let's not f*ck about. He's young and imo Deffo worth it.

In a good Poyet team that hopefully won't struggle I believe he is capable of 15-20 goals a season, he will provide assists, he works hard and probably most importantly destroy the mags for at least the next 3 years.

If 12m was the max we paid then maybe ie add ons for goals appearnaces n international appearances.

8m up front rising to 12m sounds ok to me

    Danny graham £5.5m
    Jose altidore £6.5m
    Steven fletcher £12m

IMO borini is well worth £12m. Don't forget that he's not a "through the middle" striker too, those of you who are questioning his goal scoring record.

Get him in the bag early doors, then go for welbeck I say

Is Borini worth as much as Danny Graham and Jose Altidore put together??It's a no-brainer!!Get him signed, and make sure we re-sign Jack Colback,as well!
