Mustn't forget that this is seen in real time...not slo-mo. However, I have to say it looked dodgy.

 

I don't disagree we've been very dull at times. I was just enjoying a beautiful defensive display. Yes, we should have got forward better, but the other half of things was extremely good.

 

Sounds like the need of a challenge option, perhaps 2 a game?

At what point can a manager challenge...when he feels like a break, when the opposition are close to scoring, when one of his players needs the opportunity to get up and back into play? The choices are endless and believe me every manager will use it to his advantage...do you really want to give Klopp the opportunity to stop the game. Nothing will ever be perfect and I'm willing to bet there will still be people arguing after the video ref gives his opinion. Many decisions will be clear cut, but there will still be some that aren't (Stephen's penalty anyone?). If the ref wants to consult the video ref....fine, but don't want the game stopped by anyone else.

 

Adrian Durham has announced that Saints are the enemy of football on his drive time programme....LOL

Apparently it wasn't the ultra defensive set up but the early time wasting and the "gamesmanship" on the ward of the penalty that has led this genius to this conclusion.
The media are really hacked off with us for upsetting their perfect run in and obviously upsetting the media's darling Kloop by not rolling over for them

 

Good. High time we stopped being nice. We should do what they do and appeal everything & throw little tantrums! Actually......nah.

 

I tend to agree, we need to start getting in the referees face when something happens like most of the other teams. Sure the penalty was given as a result of the exaggerated appeals from Can and co. We get absolutely no credit from the referees by being nice so lets do as the others do and try and level the playing field a little

 

Yeah....we are renowned for bad sportsmanship and dirty play. If we kicked every Arsenal player into row Z on Wednesday, we'd still be in credit in heaven.

 

They wouldn't even be anywhere near the run in without us providing them with players like Mane....

 

Surely they won't be shopping here again this summer, surely.......

Totally agree. We're certainly not innocent of ever pressurising officials but in a league of 20 teams we must be one of the "best" (least aggressive) & I don't feel it provides us with any advantage / kudos (press nor officials). I've always thought just, just maybe, the officials hold teams that don't hassle, in marginally higher esteem but gave up on that theory long ago & unfortunately we need to be as "professional" as the majority. Hope that makes sense?

 

It is ironic that some teams get slaughtered on this board for paying negative football whereas Southampton are now well capable of boring the pants off of the impartial football fan. As opposed to Gallic flare, I feel that in some games our manager has been more akin to the current incumbent at West Brom - a kind of Claude Pulis if you like.

 

It's important for the players to put pressure on the referee as our supporters certainly don't
Just listen to the Scouse fans vocal reaction to every decision that doesn't go their way. No wonder these big clubs get so many decisions. Despite rumours to the effect, referees are only human and will naturally react to this level of pressure.
Time to stop the Mr Nice Guy behaviour both on the pitch and in the stands

If you have ever got beyond listening to 30 seconds of his **** programme you will realise that Adrian Durham is the enemy of audio entertainment.

He is not on my "must listen to" list and never will be.

There are people who are entertaining and interesting and then there are the boring arseholes and he falls top of the latter group.
