Well despite the goal i still agree with you.

 

I still think it's a mistake to drop trent to deep.

He used to push further up the right side with Henderson looking to cover.

Now the right sided midfielder is asked to press the cb, with salah covering the left back and trent sat at right back.

This change has cost us alot and given us little

 

Know what you mean but didn't really matter so long as it goes in.

He couldn't score for **** last few weeks despite playing well and getting in the right positions, maybe shinning it is a bit like it 'going in off his arse'; didn't matter but could be the but of luck that helps him turn the corner.

 

It wasn't that long ago fans were calling for us to do this (when Trent was getting a ridiculous amount of ****).

I'd rather see Trent go forward. I don't think we've told him not too, I think Salah's been told to stay wide to allow Nunez space, unfortunately this means there is no space for Trent.

 

100%. Just funny when see it comes off his shin as clewrly didn’t mean it. If he had made proper connection with his foot, he’d have probably hit it at the post instead

 

Yeah said numerous times over last few months that we sometimes trying to play press up top but without firmino and mane in their prime who were brilliant at setting the traps with fab/Hendo/Gini/thiago able to then press up high to win ball back.

For as good and energetic as Nunez is, doesn’t have that game intelligence that firmino has, same with mane and diaz/Jota yet so teams getting pass that press and into midfield too easily.

So we don’t win it up high, so we have to build from the back slowly but don’t have the midfielders or forwards to play that quick one touch passing so opposition can get back in shape.

No surprise the goal today came from a mistake, a counter, ball in behind into the space.

 

At the start of the season, tremt was pushing in to central midfield and even further forward into the number 10 position.

He struggled though as there's litte space there, his most potent ability, crossing the ball became obsolete, plus he was leaving the right-side completely open.

Rather than move him back to pushing forward on the right, the critism got yo the team and he tried to play a more orthodox right back role.
