I'd rather kids get some first team experience than play Ox and Keita who are dead men walking.

bajcetic yes, thats a must imo if we are givign kids a chance at all.

But after that theres clark for LCM and i'd at least want someone to try help these kids as a senior gobshite aka henderson maybe?

I think carvalho gakpo doak is quite an exciting front 3 to want to have a look at. then you need someone to hold it togehter in mdfield and then at the back it'll be a **** show.

 

Whereas I know I've been pessimistic in my hope of Jones stepping up to next level, this would be a good game for him to prove himself and get a little more first team experience.

 

well that is a good call too. Maybe he gets 60mins and clark 30?

 

I actually think Ox as done quite well recently. Bit concerning TBF, he may play his way into a new contract

Keita is definitely gone though. Even ignoring his injury record, his agent ensured he'd not get a new deal.

 

I dunno, the only game I was able to catch him in recently was Leicester, he was dreadful in that... I've not been able to watch any of our other games since Xmas period, but the one game I did catch he was picking up where he left off.

 

Can’t just shove all the kids in together as not fair to them. Need a few experienced heads, problem is often those experienced heads like Milner ox Keita have been one of worse performers!

Thought he’s been poor. Nice pass for Nunez down the line for one goal (was it leciester?) with outside of the boot and nice header v Brentford. Otherwise, not enough pace, not enough skill to go past anyone. Haven’t seen any link up with full backs. Been a meh performances.

 

Vvd oht for at least a month. Best wrap up Konate Gomez and Matip. At least we have 4cbs plus Phillips this year and not 3 plus Phillips.

right now that puts him back for everton? certinaly back before real madrid so best case only 3 league games.

I'd have taken that when they said specialist.

 

Think people judge him on past observations. He's not top draw but he's done a job whilst we've got players missing. He's not done anything wrong out let anyone down, can't really ask for more than that.

 

Jones flatters to deceive, never going to be a regular fist teamer ,squad player at best.

 

I fear the same myself.

But with Ox, Keira going. Hendo and Milner aging and will probably be gone within 2 years. That's 4 "first team" midfielders that need to be replaced in two years. I don't think Jones is going anywhere any time soon.

Honestly, I think he's decent enough as backup and the occasional appearance until we get new midfielders in and our younger U21 stars are ready to step up. Recently he signed a deal until 2027, I don't think that he was offered it because Klopp values him as a first choice.

 

guys, there is an imperative to have club trained players.

whatever you think about Jones or kelleher being brittle there's are 2 of the 4 needed for cl squad. if we don't have them out numbers drop.

same for prem.

Jones might be a squad player but he's got value as a squad player.

Elliott will be one in 2 years time
ramsay might get there
bajcetic will be one.
and so on.

if we just get these guys through to play 10 games it's better than having 17 foreign players only

It's absolutely true we need to try and keep these numbers up (although can always register a slightly smaller squad in Europe if not). Hopefully by 2027 though we'll have four or more better and younger HG players than Jones. Either way he's here for a few more years at least.

Developing decent home grown players has been a weakness of ours for a while... We don't seem to generate as many as other big.clubs.

Maybe in the long run it'll be good if Everton go down. Won't have to fight anyone for the top local talent.

 

Allison is apparently playing tonight. Going with our strongest team, I hope.

 

Kelleher must be getting frustrated, Allison is probably the best goalie in the world but we need to keep Kelleher involved
