Don't really know what its function on a keyboard is. You see it prefixing temporary files sometimes, but how you'd use it I don't know. It's used in Spanish and is called a tilde, but it goes above a letter - an "n" usually and makes it sound like a ny as in niño. (In Portuguese an h after the n does the same job - as in Coutinho). Other than that I know nothing.....
Yes that's what it is. Tilde is that but it was used in the older days to denote an abbreviated word so a scribe could leave out letters and save space. However it is basically used today as symbol for approximately or nearly equal or similar to. As in Liverpool will get ~90 points this year You are right in Unix it is put in front of file names as back up files.
i have explained before, i did not pick the user name, its been my nick name for many years, for good reason as well. im quite happy to admit i have not got a clue, but i like to join in, every now and again. i might have to go back to lurking in the background. How do i get chief lurker under my profile picture?
You have to do unspeakable things with a mod. Don't leave, we need fresh blood. Figuratively speaking, of course.
Everyone is biased to a certain degree... most try to keep it neutral with a slight leaning towards our favourite team, player, after dinner mint, etc..
I wouldnt say that fella, but i do like to be fair. Its a pain in the arse but i love the game, although my true love is always liverpool, i do just like to watch a good game of football, im not one who thinks a 5-4 is fantastic and a nil nil is ****e. It comes from when sky first took the football, but channel 4 started showing the italian league at 2 in the morning, i was only a boy, but could see then how much better they where tactically. I think we may have been the first school team to play five at the back, a diamond in midfield and 1 upfront.
