Going to this match and going to be sat right behind the goal in the Anfield Road end. My eldest is a Liverpool fan so we go a few games a season when drawn in the local members ballot, and as luck would have it, this is the only match we drew in the ballot for the second half of this season. However, since the team seem to have given up playing, I've given up caring about the result and will just enjoy the day out with my lad. I'm sure he'll see a few goals which will make him happy.
Fair play to you mate, that's a great effort. Not for going, you can sit there and take your punishment for supporting Saints like the rest of us, but for not disowning your boy for supporting Liverpool!
I always had a soft spot for Liverpool. They were my second team growing up, I loved Bill Shankly and Bob Paisley, and Roger Hunt and Emlyn Hughes and Kevin Keegan and Kenny Dalgliesh and Ian Rush. The Heysel carnage made me question this affection but Hillsborough strengthened it. Even in the Premier League era I was vaguely puzzled why they couldn’t manage to win the title. My affection for them died in the summer of 2014 when they descended on our squad like ravening vultures and ripped out our heart and soul. The whole Virgil saga reinforced my new found dislike and turned it to hatred. Now I hope they rot in hell.
That's funny because I'm the opposite. Hated them when they ripped our squad apart, **** you Brendan Rodgers! As well as their general moaning and bitching in the media. I don't mind them so much now because of Liverpool away last year. It was by far and away the best I've ever been treated as an away fan. Lovely ground and really friendly people. The stewards were really nice to my lovely son and that means everything to me. They're OK. I hate Utd/City way more. Oh and Newcastle piss me off too
Bill Shankly was my dad’s claim to fame. At some point during his RAF war service he somehow met Bill Shankly who also served in the RAF.
Sutton's prediction: 2 - 0 It is around 230 miles from Southampton to Liverpool, and fair play to any Saints fans who make the trip - they are absolute die-hards because they are not getting anything at Anfield. I would be saving my petrol money, because they know they are getting beaten, same as they know they are getting relegated this season. Finn Russell's prediction: 4 - 0 Liverpool are going so well, while Southampton are having a shocker.
If that is the case, let’s hope he’s learned something from the recent past and gives his brain a good workout before and during the game. I recognise that Juric now has no credit left with most fans but I just hope the last two weeks have been ok with the squad and we turn up, give Liverpool a significant fright and show some pride.
For some reason I thought the game was Sunday, despite it saying Saturday in the title. Gets the misery out of the way early and leaves Sunday to be enjoyed.
