Hit & miss has been our pre-season.

In patches, i here we've played some cracking stuff going forward, but then i hear the lack of width has still been evident.

Gyan has done nothing at all, Ji has looked a really promising signing, and Whickham has been patchy (although we don't expect him to be thrust in at the deep end anyway).

Defensively, been a few penalties conceded, and a red card, but not in the last game so hopefully that ring rustiness has gone.

What we all know i'm KD will know is, we are weak as piss down the left (yet again). Kuyt or Henderson may fully expose this this.

There is one thing I will bet my bollocks on. If Henderson plays, there is not a hope in hell he will get the better of Bardsley.

As for the rest of the team, we will most likely get beat, Liverpool have built a good side. Downing will cause problems and the pikey Geordie will most likely score. Heart says a really entertaining 2-2, head says 2-0 to the pool.

Agreed mate, he should sort out our left back problem for years, we haven't had a decent, reliable left back since Riise and his defending was questionable at its best.

And yeah, as sad as it is, getting picked for an international team these days is much more about being at a high profile club, rather than playing well. The main example being Darren Bent, who was mysteriously hardly ever picked or trusted to start when at Sunderland yet he got his move to Villa and instantly got rewarded with a starting spot, which was weird. How Barry got ahead of Parker or Heskey, Defoe and Crouch ahead of Bent is a mystery to me.

Capello said Bent enhanced his chance, but why? It's really frustrating, he said Bent was a better player when he left, how? What makes it worse he said he'd pick people on form.

I believe Henderson will start the game, and I also predict that Dirk Kuyt will start the game and Suarez will start on the bench, depending on how the game is going he may not even be called off the bench.
There is a reason why I feel Henderson and Kuyt will start. With the absence of Suarez and Gerrard, Liverpool require energy in the side and these two provide that. Both are what Alan Nixon in this mornings Daily Mirror described as ''slow burners''. Both have staggering levels of stamina. There will also be a place in the side for Stewart Downing. I reckon Sunderland will ''park the bus'' and attempt to play on the counter. However this may be useless as Downing will make as much use of the pitch as possible.
I can see Andy Carroll causing them real problems,(even more problems if Wes Brown plays),Sunderlands side will be strengthened due to the fact John O Shea is unavailable through injury.
My prediction is Liverpool 2- Sunderland 0.Carroll and Kuyt to score.

    Staggering mate.

I'm certainly not 'anti foreign coach' but i am 'anti Cappello'.

He is so out of touch with wahat football means to the masses in England, in Italy many fans support there local team + one of the giants, maybe he underestimates the feeling and passion at the 'lesser' clubs.

Bent went to Villa, 'maybe he will get more games now..'

You cheeky ****er, we were above them in the league, we have higher average crowds, and historically, although we are behind them, it isn't massively.

We are a progressive club in a great new(ish) stadium with academy facilities second to none, they are at one of the poorest stadia in the league, and struggle to get 40k a week in a city of close to 2 million.

Cappello is a ****ing snide, he is such a pompous **** he won't even come up here for games, i was gobsmacked when he picked Jordan, but not as gobsmacked as his 'great to see him move club' comments.

    He's a prick.

I'll never turn my back on England, ever, but as i sit here as a resident of Spain, and see the respect and credit given to all the clubs who provide players to the national team, i wish i could get Cappello and kick his poncey ****ing dickhead arse all the way back to Italy.

When England lose Capello,I fear for them as a force in international football. Look at whom they intend replacing him with. Harry ''1 trophy in 30 years of management'' Redknapp and Woy ''rigid formations'' Hodgson. Okay I know Hodgson managed Finland and Switzerland, but they suited him...their intention is to park the bus and hit on the break.
Thats his management philosophy. England are an attacking side packed with attacking players. I reckon the England players would go nuts with either Hodgson or Redknapp in charge. Hodgson is dull as ditch-water and is the modern day Dave Sexton and Redknapp is a tactical dunce.
I reckon Rafa Benitez would be perfect as an England manager.

As i mentioned mate, i am not against a foreign coach, i just feel we should maybe be thinking of people who at least have spent time in England and are in touch with the depth of feeling towards clubs here.

For a national team manager to be writing of clubs the size of us, Newcastle etc due to location and an uneducated view on our status, is clearly ****ing wrong.

Capello is clearly clueless, I imagine I could do a better job than him.

I don't understand how the England managers can all get it so wrong, it's not exactly rocket science. Pick the best player in each position, look at stats, go to games, judge how they play. Then use them in international games and instill confidence, but humility into them. Surely it's as easy as that?

No day in, day out training. No transfers. Most of the time they don't even have to set up a formation, just use the most common club formation.

Not sure he'd care considering he's Irish, probably hate the England team that bit more.

Although Alex Ferguson would make a very good England manager,I couldn't see him doing it. He's a patriotic Scot. I read somewhere once he let rip when his English based players gave him a bit of a slagging over England beating Scotland in the 1996 European Championships. He hates losing to England as much as Liverpool fans hate losing to Man United.

Ya but the way he is talking he seems to give a little bit of attention to the problem. Me being American (F*** ya) and all, I could give two s***s as to who is your National team coach. Just think you guys need to level out your expectations and recognize the real problems in your youth first to be able to properly grow into that contender the media and others want you to be. Watch the u-20 England team and the difference in class from them to Spain, Colombia, etc was pretty big, but the 17's showed promise.
