ANFIELD awaits for QPR tomorrow afternoon, as the R’s face Liverpool in the Barclays Premier League.

With the battle for survival now into its final month, victory will be deemed a must at the home of last season’s runners-up, as Chris Ramsey’s side look to close the four point gap between themselves and Leicester City, who currently sit just above the relegation zone in 17th.

Liverpool, meanwhile, are almost certain to miss out on Champions League qualification following a midweek defeat to Hull City.

Michael Dawson's well-timed run and header before half-time deservedly secured the points for the Tigers, on a night when the Reds failed to create a single clear-cut opening, leaving them seven points behind fourth-placed Manchester United in the race for Champions League football.

The Reds are once again minus the services of Daniel Sturridge this weekend. The England hot-shot has flown to the United States to determine whether he needs surgery on an ongoing hip problem. Sturridge has played just twice since he picked up the injury in the 2-1 loss to Manchester United on March 22nd.

The Reds have also been rocked by the news that defender Jon Flanagan is set to miss another six to nine months after having a new knee operation. Flanagan, 22, has not played for the Reds this season after suffering the injury on a pre-season tour last year.

Rangers, meanwhile, are likely to be without striker Bobby Zamora, but Leroy Fer is fit and available and in contention for a start.

Defender Rio Ferdinand is a doubt for the R’s.

Hitting the sack soon as I am making the 25 minute flight over to this one tomorrow. I expect there will be 149 Liverpool supporters on my flight from all over Ireland making their first ever visit to Anfield armed with cameras etc. on the flight and yours truly.

The last time I was in Anfield was October 1987 (28 years ago). It was the day after the big Hurricane and we were top of the league. We drove up from London amid the devastation from the Hurricane. We were top of the league at the time but got stuffed 4-0. Liverpool went on to win the league and we finished Fifth, I think. They had Barnes, Aldridge, Houghton etc and they were very good. I am hoping for a better result tomorrow but I am not travelling with any degree of confidence. Hope it is a good game. Come on You R's.

Yes 999's. It is a short hop from here. This is kind of my local derby. The plane only goes up to 20,000 feet and straight back down again. Michael O'Dreary has the cheek to charge his captive audience 168 euros each for such a short hop. Now you know how he posts profits of 400 or 500 million.

Do you remember all the fallen trees from the hurricane in 87 on the journey up to Liverpool? I think Grobelaar was the goalie.

I was just starting to work for the post office and had to go and train at Kings Cross where I was going to work for the overseas unit at Heathrow Airport, and en-route to the train station there were trees down everywhere. A month later the Kings Cross tube fire also occurred. The '80's was truly a decade of disaster.

We got the 'special' up to Liverpool Lime St ( Daphne Biggs sold me the ticket, Rest her soul. ) and got a cab from there to the ground. I remember Grobelaar wearing a dodgy Rubettes type hat.

That was the point of that starting Xl Matt. When the full back(s) push on we can squeeze the front three into the box or thereabouts to get bodies into scoring positions, whilst maintaining a solid rear guard. *Hopefully* It gives us balance going forward and in defence which we lacked last week.

Not holding my breath for a win today, our record there is almost as bad as at Forest, but stranger things have happened.
Myself, Inky, Ian my Burnley mate and Paddy who came to Wembley with us were due to play golf this morning before heading to a local to watch game but it's pouring rain and thick fog here in the sunny south east of Ireland so that's been cancelled. ...hope it's not an omen of impending doom.

My daughter was born just 5 days before, and then it blew!
