Looks like Allen is BRs first pick to start the new season then - almost guaranteed given he's started the last few ahead of Hendo - but he simply doesn't play well in a team with Lucas; they both want to sit in the same pockets except one is better than the other. The back four look decided on, no look in for Skrtel this season. Looks like he'll definitely be off. Sterling's earned a chance to start and show what he can do from the off, good to see. Hopefully Aspas continues to knock in a few goals

Was my first impression when I saw Allen starting again. He's done absolutely nothing in the last 8 months to warrant starting ahead of Henderson. I'd rather see Alberto in there if I'm honest.
I hope Allen takes his chance and shows that he deserves a place in the team, the good thing is we have options now to cover for anyone who is not performing.
Conversely, where is Hendo's chance to show what he can do and try to earn a place in the team? This is what annoys me; he doesn't get any. Allen is nearly always picked ahead.
Looks a decent team. A bit lightweight in the middle, wouldnt fancy those 2 vs stokes midfielders other than that ok. Probably will be the line up on the 17th
I agree Hendo deserves a chance, he worked hard and improved his game last season. Ideally both improve over the next couple of season and maybe start together but there's a lot of work to be done before I'd be happy with that midfield.
Shame he only had two appearances in how many years due to injury. On a serious note, it is a massive shame. One of the best English defenders we have had, but he was never able to fulfil his potential and ambitions. Highly regarded by Henry and other top strikers who were unlucky enough to play against him.
