It's the start of the season and we're on the back of a good start in the league with United looming at the weekend. What better way to prepare for that than by winning convincingly with a strong team and a real sign of intent. Not to mention the fact we don't have Europe this season so we can afford to put out stronger sides in the cups. Glad to see Brendan putting a strong side out.
I'm not against a strong team, just wish we had options on the bench where we could make changes for players that aren't going to be playing Sunday to give a lot of the squad a rest if we are winning easiliy.
With the league being very tight this year its also hopefully a chance to get back into Europe and win a cup in the process.
Awful goalkeeping. Good little run from Sterling and Sturridge, taking all the defenders away from him. just what was needed, early goal to keep everyone a bit more comfortable.
Good mixture team this evening. Young players develop better when they play with better players, so Im glad the days of just whacking out the 2nd string are gone.
Not that I wouldnt have enjoyed it if it had gone in- but what does Steven Gerrard gain from taking the direct free kicks against Notts County? He should have left that for Luis Alberto.
