it'd claimed to be less than 5% of clearwater but we will see. there's a lot of investors there and the flood of cash to chelsea's aid from Saudi is very suspect. we ought to be watching all consortium's now for evidence of this type of back door shenanigans
I'm not sure why we're so worried about goal-scoring - we're second highest, 2 behind City. Extrapolate to the end of the season and we'd be on about 85 - which is the same number we had in our title winning season. Statistically it's ok, but we know stats only tell part of the story. It's true we're not playing as well as we could be, but we're still gathering in the points. We're not great, but we're not bad either. Of course we'd like to blow opponents away all the time, but digging in and showing the resilience to conjure up results from unpromising situations is a different type of good. The points are on the board and it's taken character and resourcefulness to get them there - perhaps more than if we were just superior in every department and could win without effort..
it's because of the real big games being far tighter and missing chances than hurts most. I doubt anyone would bet their house on nunez scoring a single chance is a big game. 4 chances maybe, but not just the one. the forwards are scoring the vast majority of the goals and there's plenty of chances but when days like city roll round then we need that extra level this season the league cup and blown open for us and the europa is a poor level so there's no issue. but we are now wondering if just maybe city might only get 80 odd points so every goal starts to matter even more. yes it's taken work and character to fight against bad refs and some decent sides but the margins on success are defined not just by that but also by that extra level. the work rate has got us in a great position. Delivering from it requires a level of consistency. we've all sat watching real madrid do for us time and again and be it mane firmino and salah or whoever the same lethality is at issue. we couldn't score off them when the few chances fell. I'd like to think if we had the start we had against them last year but the midfield from this year thst bad result at home might have been very different
Nothing you've said there is wrong - but nothing contradicts what I said either - my points still stand.
yes, i never said they didn't. I'm merely expressing why such things should be in the back of people's minds. if we were just a touch better l, just a smidge this season could be on 19/20 levels the 4 draws are Chelsea who were on the back foot for 25mins, Luton away which the others found a way to win at, Brighton where we led and we scrapped for a point off city. the loss was a diabolical ref. the margins from doing ok and being miles in front are actually quite fine. this is a developmental thing where we can get better. the are equally fine to fall back into the pack like spurs did.
Obviously anything can happen, and I can't predict the future - but... I don't expect us to fall back too far because it isn't how we've been under Klopp. We've always finished strongly and in the season's we've ended up relatively low it's because of a lacklustre start and having too much ground to make up. I think we're well on for a top 4 finish now. No doubt there'll be a sticky patch where we drop a few points, but that happens to others as well.
I think our target for this game has to be score more than 7 goals. And i really don't think that is unreasonable Watch us drop points here now
Indeed. Apart from the first 30 minutes or so against Fulham, I think we haven't played well at all since we came back from the international break. Szobbo hasn't been the same player, for starters, and you can see that these treks are now getting to Macca too. Either we're saving up a stellar performance, or we're due to beak through the thin ice that we're on.
I'm hoping the fact that Szab and Salah had midweek off as we had the group sewn up will refresh them at least partially
