the top 7 table doesn't lie. we are fairly meh on that table. add in arsenal and Newcastle and we might be feeling very bad on new year's.

we've now drawn more than won v top half opponents.

I'm happy with where we are. Not so happy with where the performances are heading though.

You can tell that Klopp isn't happy either. For a manager that was top of the league for a week, he knows this is still a work in progress

    Big picture. sure why not.

directionally.... we could be even better but we do look like we are struggling more and more just to keep going where we are right now.

Anyone mentioned the penalty we should have had after the Man Utd defender demonstrated to Onana how to catch a ball?

I agree, I didn't think he was good at all. Distribution was dire and any saves he made were no more than you'd expect for a keeper in the top half of the Prem.

Garth probably didn't watch the game. Probably read we had 34 shots, 8 on target and thinks that Onana pulled off a worldie for each one - including the 26 that missed.
The longer people think Onana's good, the happier I'll be.

I still don't understand why you'd play Gravenberch in that 3-man midfield over Elliott. Had we changed to 4-2-3-1, then perhaps, or 4-4-2, maybe, but he just doesn't offer enough energy or ball retention for any 3-man midfield IMO. I have a horrible feeling Bayern saw us coming - I'm getting Bruno Cheyrou vibes from this feller, I tell you. :emoticon-0112-wonde

He's still finding his feet. The midfield this season, while a definite upgrade, is yet to have a consistent lineup which leads to consistent play. Gravenberch is brilliant at progressing the ball. Give him time.

well as it turned out Elliott should have started but instead of Szob not Gravenberch.
Elliott struggles on left anyway imo

    come on guys.

gravenberch is just fine. absolutely no issues.

    Elliott is alright too.

the midfield is simply not balanced and the valuers we wanted with macallister and szobo didn't pan out. gravenberch was a nice to have late in the window and has a lot of talent.

if we buy a 6 in January (doubtful but we will see) then I am still convinced macallister moves out to lcm.

Elliott is competing with szoboszlai for a slot.

Think he’s been decent. Must be watching diff player as he looks good. Drifts in and out of games as you’d expect from young guy who’s had no football last couple years and gone into a complete new midfield set up.

Picks up and moves the ball really nicely and his close control and dribbling is very good.
