Not like you to resort to stereotypes <laugh> It was ****ing bizarre being awake during the rather brutal procedure <yikes> Both knees at the same time in February <yikes> <yikes>

Bizarre being awake I bet, but lower risk. My grandad had a hip op a few years back, went under general anaesthetic and never woke up. He was 91 at the time, in poor health already, and accepted the high risk as he was immobile without it, but I think they avoid generals where possible.

    Glad you're doing well <ok>

Sorry about your Grandad, mate. A general would be very dodgy at that age. The anaesthetist was a young Liverpudlian lady, who came to see me before the op. I asked her if she was from Liverpool and she said she was. My next question would normally automatically be are you red or blue. I thought tat on this occasion, that could be a very risky question to ask <laugh>

Sorry to hear the news about your grand dad. A general anaesthetic is quite unusual these days. A regional anaesthetic with the patient made sleepy but awake is more the norm, especially if the patient is not very well.

Brendan Roger's lot got hammered - he still has what it takes to be the RS manager
