Arghh frustrating performance but we got what we deserved - we didn't take our chances and we switched off for their goal.

Played half decently for majority of the match but we lack that cutting edge and ruthlessness.

    Best players on the day:

Sakho - back to his best, strong, commanding and dealt with everything.

Moreno - dare I say, he's better than Clyne.

Firmino - will get the usual criticism from fans because he didn't score a worldie but he was involved in most of our attacks and combines well.

Our defence was actually pretty solid for a change. Just the usual lapses at set pieces - Henderson loses Fellaini (he has a habit of losing his runners) and Lucas loses Rooney for the goal. I know these two players get a lot of love but this is a game of fine margins and it's not good enough.

    Now to the dross:

The whole midfield was awful. Can was off the boil although he improved in the second half, but goes to show that if he's not on form, then the no one else in midfield is capable of bossing it.

I am glad Henderson is back - but that's only because I rather see him than Lucas, Milner or Allen. Simply put, he's the best of a bad bunch When Klopp gets his signings, I'm pretty sure Henderson will become a very good squad player but not a starter.

Milner. Where do I begin with him? The guy is nothing more than a dog - chases around, dives in at every opportunity and often loses. Takes around 5 mins to control a ball and another 5 mins to do something productive with it.

I'm quite surprised at the stick Lallana received today - I actually thought it was one of his better games! But still not good enough - he does put in a shift and he will win the ball a lot of times, but anyone who thinks Klopps loves runners are in for a shock. Quality on the ball is number 1. Then workrate. And at the moment, we have a lot of hard workers but not enough quality.

Quite telling that Klopp a) didn;t start Benteke and b) waited so long to bring him on. He'll be gone in the summer, along with a few others I hope!

I agree with pretty much all of that mate. Thought Lallana was shocking today and provided next to nothing, pretty much the same as Milner.

Yep, it wasn't a great performance by him but it's not his worst. Along with a few others, he's a decent squad option.

  5. For once, I agree with most of what you say. Just a bit harsh on Milner imo, he want great but nor was he ****.

Sakho = MOTM. Not just for Liverpool either, the match! Why De Gea got it is beyond me, he did well but only had about four saves to makes and only one of them was top quality (because of how **** in front of goal we are)

I thought the De Gea saves were good but I would still expect him to save them.

Sakho was brilliant, we need to keep him fit because he takes a little while to get back top form after injuries. We can't afford to keep losing him and disrupting the defence. And special mention to Kolo - thought he was very good as well.

Haha agreed. Lallana will have fans because of his workrate, which should always be commended.

His lack of strength is a concern but his biggest problem is that he has poor vision/intelligence. At 27/28, you can't teach that and I can't see him getting any better. A useful squad option nonetheless.

I'd take Shane Long in a heartbeat, atm. We've missed Ings playing in this side, to his strengths, too. Not exactly a marquee signing, but, Suarez aside, what do you get in January? More to the point, we get Benteke and Balotelli in the summer windows.

Useful how? He doesn't provide assist or goals at a level we expect so he doesn't offer anything different in attack. If he's a squad player for his willingness to track back and help when defending a lead then I would say that's a pretty poor option.

I didn't rate Kuyt but at least he would provide an attacking option along with tracking back.

Agreed, but - it seemed four defenders went up with Fellaini for that header that hit the crossbar and led to their goal. He's a big lad, but that's shocking. Lucas had been beating him in the air in midfield all afternoon!

Shane Long is a striker who hardly scores goals. I think he has around 50 goals in 200 games. He's not the answer.

He'll do till summer, and I'd take 1 in 4 goals over Lallana and Firmino any day of the week.

Yep, the goal was awful. Henderson fails to track Fellaini and then Lucas fails to track Rooney.

Losing the header against Fellaini is poor but Rooney in acres of space around our 6 yard box is criminal.

Trust me, I'm not a Lallana fan. But as an option who can slot into our team without disrupting the style is always useful. But as a result, he will need quality around who will produce the goods.

You've got to be joking - you didn't see him stamp on Lucas's foot? And I suppose he got away with it in the sense that Shelvey didn't when Evans got him with a two-footed lunge a few seasons back. And if you want to see an uncontrolled lunge, see Herrera in that game that led to the stamp you refer to.
