mind you might go in our favour as there has been so much publicity about it he will be desperate not to look biased towards Utd
I was thinking that. Any mistakes he makes that appear to favour Utd will cause such a fuss that he might just err the other way.
The crowd will call him a "Manc bastard" or something and then he'll give Man Utd every decision even if they don't deserve it to show to his assessor how he is strong enough to "stand up to intimidation". Handling the crowd is worth more points on the assessment form than actually getting the decisions correct and he'll want to get himself on the list of referees who are qualified to #bottle decisions at a European and international level.
Liverpool v Man Utd: Anthony Taylor appointment criticised please log in to view this image Referee Anthony Taylor was born in Wythenshawe, just 10 miles from Manchester United's ground Former referee's chief Keith Hackett has criticised the appointment of Manchester-based Anthony Taylor as the man in the middle for Monday's meeting of Manchester United and Liverpool. Taylor lives six miles from Old Trafford, which Hackett believes could lead to allegations of partiality. "No-one is questioning his integrity," Hackett said. "But what if something goes wrong? It would be intolerable." Taylor has no United ties and supports National League North side Altrincham. Which teams do Premier League referees support? Hackett, the former head of the Professional Game Match Officials Limited body that appoints referees to matches, also highlighted the fact that Mark Clattenburg could have been available to take charge of Monday's game. Instead, Newcastle United fan Clattenburg, who refereed the 2016 Champions League, FA Cup and European Championship finals, will be acting as a fourth official at another match this weekend. Inconsistencies in appointments Earlier this year, Leicestershire-based Kevin Friend was removed from Tottenham's game against Stoke because he supports Leicester City, who were battling Spurs for the Premier League title at the time. However, in the same month, Newcastle fan Michael Oliver was allowed to oversee a match between Norwich City and Crystal Palace, who were fighting with the Magpies for Premier League survival. In 2006, Tranmere Rovers supporter Mike Dean was withdrawn from the 2006 FA Cup final between Liverpool and West Ham because he was based in the Wirral, not far from Tranmere's ground. Liverpool fans angry Reds supporters have gone to social media to express their frustrations about the appointment of Taylor... http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/37629246
By appointing him, FA has put him under pressure. Jose Mourinho will not shut up his mouth if united loses..
He cannot afford not to give a penalty or a foul if Marouane Fellaini elbowed someone and it's too glearing.
Sorry - course he can. There will be no accountability on any poor decions given either way. I have resigned myself to defeat here, prob a rooney last minute goal Just hope this ref doesnt play a part cause if we lose we will just look sour moaning about the ref. Standard of referreeing is generally poor for all teams in England. I have said this before the refs should be audible and have to explain their decisions straight after a game. Before managers and players are interviewed. You imagine, game on Monday night is decided by 94 minute penalty by Rooney who after arguing with the ref earlier then handles ball to control it, steps up and scores the winner. Klopp is then taken straight to interview and is less than complmentary about the ref. FA are now on Klopps back and press go to town on him. Tbf same scenario in reverse so replace Rooney with Hendo and Klopp with Mour. What on earth is going to happen in that interview? Where as if they delayed interview and had referee explanations said manager would have time to calm down.
Let's be honest here. Utd are absolute rubbish this season, the only decent team they have played so far, City, thrashed them. Utd could not cope with the speed of City closing them down and moving the ball around. As we play the same way as City did on that occasion Utd should not get a look in on Monday and will be outrun and outclassed all game. I predict a Utd win 1-0 after they score from the only shot they have in the game. Ref will also deny at least two clear cut penalties for us and will only yellow card "side show Bob" after his 11th bookable offence. Maureen will then come on MOTD and declare the best team won and the title is in the bag, cue BBC Salford reporters creaming themselves.
