Our of interest when was the last time you saw a line drawn against the ball? I have never seen it. (Tbf the first picture I saw, the ball wasn't in the shot so it was unclear that Nunez could possibly be offside. )
When bed they are trying to work out if a player is ahead or behind the ball when there are no defenders around. Was one earlier in season. Cant remember exactly who. Maybe a Fulham game a month or 2 back
I understand the concept of ahead of or behind the ball for offside decisions but I have never seen the lines drawn against the ball. If what you're saying here is a thing then the lines last night should have been against the ball, they weren't. You actually said earlier that the lines were drawn against the ball to explain the decision. Maybe we're both a bit confused ...still ... as to how the VAR determines offside.
Really comfortable despite going 1 down, Gakpo has a little bit of everything in his locker, really useful player. Ruthless once again when other results are going our way
You don't draw off the ball. The ball went forward. Therefore the question is if nunez is ahead of salah or not. As the he moved towards the ball he was considered active even though he didn't touch it. Btw he was "offside" in the first half as their player refused pount blank to touch the ball. He knew he was off and just couldn't bring himself to not move. They basically let the ball run and run until it nearly stopped and the ref still blew up. If find that utterly pedantic ans stupid btw.
It doesn’t matter if he’s ahead of Salah? That means nothing. Could be ahead of behind and it wouldn’t mean he’s off or on. nunez was ahead of the ball - therefor normal rules apply. Has to be 2 players between him and the goal, when they draw the lines they drew it from the defender just in front of him and he was ahead of him therefore offside. had the ball been on salahs right foot ahead of everyone then would have been onside as he would have been behind the ball
