VVD usually plays on the left side and Matip naturally on the right. Matip is a cracking defender imo and once he has a good partner alongside him he'll improve even more. Lovren will be cover for those two. Matip and his ability to pick up little knocks is my only concern.
It was a lack of understanding between Matip and Can. Mostly Matip's fault because he played a loose pass in a dangerous area. If Can was a bit faster he could recover it, but he has the inertia of a minor planet so was still revving up after the ball was lost.
The defensive mistake is more around our ability to recover after we lost possession. Matip loses Vardy and Lovren does absolutely nothing.
The initial pass yes. But as they had shown on Motd on replay he could have got back and made up for mistake but was stood there for too long before reacting to get back.
Matip was also too slow in realising he needed to get goal side of Vardy in the move that resulted from his poor pass. All in all it wasn't great, but we didn't do too much wrong after
I've said all along that Gomez should be in the centre, but after an iffy start he seems to have settled into the RB spot and is enjoying himself going forward. He might not take to being shackled in defence again.
I did notice that MOTD said it different. You'd just like to think a dedicated LFC radio station would more likely know the facts over MOTD
Was the radio referring to league goals as opposed to total goals up until new year. Not making excuses or do I know, but both could have been referring to different records.
No idea when Clyne is back - we can’t afford to move Gomez to CB until we have adequate cover at RB. I actually wouldn’t be against keeping Gomez as a long term RB and us buying another experienced CB to partner VVD.
They said the Hunt record was 22 goals so guessing all competitions. Salah is on 23 isn't he? If he's only on 22 then it'll be me that's got it wrong
What makes it funny is Aldridge was saying Hunt was his hero too. Apparently it's the reason he wore number eight, he didn't feel worthy of wearing Hunts number nine.
