Exactly mate. Bielsa couldn't stop them making mistakes and missing chances. Marsch can't stop them either. Maybe it's not the managers but some of the players. The next guy won't stop the players from doing it either.
What you are saying is that you can lead a horse to the trough but you can’t make it drink, in which case it will wither and die a good manager/coach will know this and also know when to send it to the knackers yard to at least get a few bob
That's Emu's job and then he can go clean the changing rooms, or rearrange the cars in the car park... Anything really, just don't want him telling the players how it's all their fault and they're going to cost the Jamster his job.
Marsch may have survived for now but I'm still not convinced by him. It's a great 3 points but let's look at reality..... Meslier had a blinder. Another day we might have lost 7-2 We tend to do better against teams that are more attack minded i.e. the big 6 like to think they can roll anybody over. The remaining 13 teams are where we really need to get points. We could win every game against the big 6 and that would get us 36 points. If we can't beat the rest then 36 points would probably see us relegated. Until JM can suss out how to regularly beat most of the 13 we'll be flirting with relegation.
I think he does know this. That's why he specifically said he wanted a striker and a left back to replace Firpo and Bamford. We got little Willy. He inherited a small squad. It needed beefing up. It's been beefed up imo. Next summer I think you'll see a few sent to the glue factory.
This I agree with. We've consistently had more possession, shots, corners etc against these sides but we haven't converted that in to goals. Bielsa had the same issue in the Championship, particularly in that first season. It's so frustrating that we haven't had a clinical striker for what seems like an eternity.
As we only play with one striker, we need a striker than can do both. We have Rodrigo who is a better finisher but is pizz poor in link up play and Bamford who does link up well but is pizz poor with decision making which hinders his finishing. we need someone that can do both. they both might have spells at times, but both are too inconsistent. Hand on heart I wouldn't mind losing both if it was to collect a good player with both attributes. Joseph and Perkins aren't ready for premier League football, and it would be cruel and suicidal to hand them the reigns. Gelhardt looks good at times but he's not a 90 min premier League striker he really should have been loaned out to learn his trade in 90 min matches week in week out. it's very difficult to ask a young lad with very limited topflight football to jump in and lead the line he needs more experience. He's still raw even though he's been sitting around our bench for a while. He's wasted right now as once again he's getting next to nowt on the field. because let's be honest, we don't know what to do with him. It's very hard when playing 1 striker keeping the ones, we have happy and the more we add the harder again it becomes. Struijk is doing fab for a player playing out of position but in this day and age why is he? He's a natural CB another losing valuable experience playing out of his natural position it shouldn't be happening for a club in the Premier League. Not signing a LB before the season started still amazes me, I'm actually baffled in the reasoning not too. honestly, I don't think we need major surgery to be a decent middle of the table club it just needs tweaking in a few places.
I have an idea team meetings should be conducted with cattle prods. I guarantee they would start hitting the net from then on.
Think we sometimes all forget that Bamford was a £7M striker and we only got him because Boro didn't fancy him anymore. In 3 seasons he fired us to the play offs, promotion and then 9th in the PL before being struck down by injury. All in all a very good return and he thoroughly deserved the contract extension. Perhaps we should cut him some slack and support him through this difficult time. ALAW
