First 10 minutes was good but then we just made it progressively easier for palace. Midfield badly misses Thiago for this type of game.
WTF happened? I watched ther first 15mins and we had them penned in, creating plenty of chances and it looked like a matter of time. Left to fetched the mrs (nm) and get back to that ****!!!
Couple things. We are incapable of finding Diaz except with back to goal. It's fairness pointless. We need that side running at them. We seem unwilling to knock them over early and take the foul. Trent only runs when it suits him, into the middle. He never runs the ball 5 yards on to cross, just knocks them in from deep. I think its lazy. He's produced 3 or 4 from wide. Vvd. Can't let zaha run off him. He is the only player of danger. He's not following him, he's then playing him on all the time. The final decisions, corners and shots are awful.
Their keeper was down for 2.5 mins after the first minute. They wasted another couple of minutes after scoring, not counting wasting time at goal kicks and throw ins and the ref adds 3 minutes ET. As to our performance it was obvious they would put Zaha against Phillips and as well as scoring there was a couple of times Zaha either got through or the ball just did not reach him They will score at least 1 more second half, but I can't see us getting 3. Why is Diaz getting the ball with his back to their goal, he needs it forward of him to run on to. Why does TAA keep coming inside instead of staying wide? Very poor from us so far this season.
We need to to start finding him in positions where he can do that. It's the same as the CL final where we barely managed to find him in dangerous areas.
We've created the chances to be ahead but a dose of reality with the goal conceded. We're a new team with a new style of attack which will take time to work. Not sure why Phillips and Milner are playing rather them Gomez and Hendo/Keita
We don't seem to have any triangle between robbo and whoever is lcm and Diaz. Robbo seems very reluctant to overlap any more and seems to arrive late. Diaz is either hanging out inside and not running the full back channel or is stood wide facing wrong way. It's like as if he doesn't know he can run behind
Same as every other time. Lots of fancy play in front of a solid defence. A turnover from our attack, our two slow CB's vs a quick striker. 0-1
Glimmer of hopes Nunez got in at far stick 3 or 3 times. Skied 2 Trent has when he's got up high has found 3 or 3 men who've.missed target. Elliott has done well.
