Technically Burnley at fault. Their left full sprinted out to elliott but stopped and focused on blocking the passing angle to salah but his cb inside had played salah off. If he continued the aggressive press elliot wouldn't have been able to take it down so easy and get set. You can actually see elliott realise he has space and come alive for a second. Their cb also moved back with salah who was offside and opened the space where taa passed in. Our technical execution was not just vvd pass and an outrageous assist from trent but the run from salah to pull thier defenders attention and open space.
What's interesting to see if Trent moving into more central positions. We're typically used to him sticking out wide and putting those balls in but he's getting into some really good central positions now - his dribbling has really improved and now his passing is reaching new levels. He is truly a generational talent.
I accept what they are - I just want them to stop whining about other sides whining about them. They're this decade's Bolton, and Dyche is Allardyce without, er, the Alla bit (there must be a joke in there). Most of all though, I wish a team that played like 80's Wimbledon would not act like a team of Arjen Robbens everytime another player comes within a five yard radius of them; you can't have both ways - hard man challenges to opponents, girly-puff reactions when they challenge you.
I'd truly like to see him succeed Hendo. He'd captain the team better from there too. And don't forget, he has a pretty fine left foot too.
Dont see any reason why anyone would ever move him to play midfield. The guy is putting in assist and creation stats that sticks up to to any midfielder from fullback position. Why move him into midfield where he has onreveive the ball with back to goal and won’t be able to play those early balls, or join the attacks from late with space to cross the ball from. Said before that last years we were pretty structured in o it style. Wide players drift in, fullbacks push on and midfielders fill the gaps. But it seems this season seen a different approach. Whether it remains or is just been due to opposition but seen the wide players stay a bit wider and especially yesterday saw Elliott drift wider and allow TAA to come inside more which was nice to see. Always good to have different options available so don’t become too predictable. It’s something city for quite often with full backs stepping into CM positions rather than running down the line.
Saw that in the game. Such a strange one, it will never be given as a foul yet technically is a foul even if it’s off the ball. Tbh would be pissed if that was given as a foul against us in that position.
Burnley will look at that goal and feel they could have defended it better but........... Its our tactical nous, possession and patience that creates the space to exploit. During the build up you can see Burnley getting pulled over to their right and its Virgils vision and accuracy in passing which opens them up. It allows Trent to find space between the lines and leaves Sadio in acres to finish. Beautiful and clinical.
yeah, mentioned that further up. At 2-0 we should have brought Milner and Nat on to Kick the **** out of what was left of game. Disappointed in Wood, because although he's built like a Kiwi prop forward, he does has a modicum of skill. That Barnes has the game of a 2nd division tripehound though. Really wanted Nat on to do him.
he is always at it. I actually wonder if sometimes klopp is trying ox and shaqiri and now ellott to go wide when he comes into the middle. its about being a wild card that someone isn't picking up Yeah, thats why i want to highlight salah's run there. Its stopped the LB really committing to closing elliott and their LCB is suckered into following salah and not playing him offside (he really should have) and thats all the space that taa needs and mane runs right into that area. You are right, play is short to matip and no chance is made. the long ball exposes burnely for what they are. just not very good with theres not 10 of them
So watching motd I noticed a collision before our first goal. I’m assuming that is what dyche was referring to when talking about the pen. TAA just shoulders McNeil off the ball as he tried to run between 2 of our players. Was such a minor incident that didn’t even trigger that might have been a foul. Can tell that by the fact var didn’t even get involved lol. And they normal try get involved if any tony little foul.
a pure flop. Dyche needs to be read as "my guys can pull drag and foul all the like but your guys can't touch us"
Having our players picked up and dropped to the ground with no whistle or caution given has been a regular occurrence, so in that regard the new rules just make it official that it's alright to do that. I remember Southampton away last season when it happened to Salah and Mané in dramatic fashion, one was right in front of the linesman as well, play didn't even stop in fact one of the wrestling moves on Mané resulted in a free kick against him.
