It is interesting to note that the positions of Liverpool and the mancs are exactly reversed. And the current rankings too. I think we were 3rd or 4th at this stage and going up. On the number of matches, of course we do want to have many matches as it means we are still in many competitions. However, we have to reduce unnecessary replays especially away against lower divisions teams. Realistically we really ought to be able to beat Bolton at home, with all due respect to them.
No we didn't. They paid massively more to play a lot worse against a team 2 leagues lower. I stand by and indeed redouble my But anyway, we are in agreement that we laughed at Everton at precisely the correct time?
They were away from home and playing on a ploughed field Yon were at home and facing a strike force with a combined age of 73. Same result, just as
Their strike force could have been 17698 years old and had precisely the same number of shots on target
Maybe the fact that they're that old they were dragged out of retirement had something to do with the lack of on target efforts like........
Exactly, they had no intention of winning, whereas Man Utd were actually outplayed most of the game by a League 2 side
Not for long.......Rodgers has chucked him under the bus... http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/30971115
Has pissed me off that. Sure Mario hasn't been great, but I don't believe for 1 second that GJ is a hard worker every day in training. He gets in the squad no matter what.
It's not just that - to have a go at him for not pressing is a weak excuse. Mario has worked a lot harder since joining Liverpool and he presses more than Sturidge. Very annoying how Rodgers finds it so easy to criticise some players but says nothing about others. Johnson, Gerrard, Lambert etc are significantly worse when it comes to pressing.
It seems that in terms of outcome, they are slightly better off: We are playing away against Bolton ...while they are playing Cambridge who have achieved their objective (of going to OT and get their windfall ) at home. No bad or small ground trouble for them,. We should really have got past Bolton without too much trouble.
Man Utd now play a team with nothing to lose and the possibility to have the best result of their careers. Man Utd went out of the FA Cup and League Cup last season at home. Van Brent ****ed up this year's League Cup so much they didn't get a chance to play at home. We go to Bolton who have nothing more to win except another round in a cup they won't lift.
Are you really seriously saying that we are more likely to go into the next round than the mancs? You are in a very very small minority if you are.
They drew the worst team left in the competition. Having been given their advantage they have done much worse than us. The original argument was Tobes saying we shouldn't have laughed at Man Utd. £100m of strikers and another £85m in subs failing to break down (or even play well against) a league 2 side is hilarious regardless of what we do against a championship side, particularly if we dominate the game and don't even lose. Even McCunty calls Man Utd "dismal" http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/30962480 We were just not clinical enough in front of a goalkeeper having a worldie
BTW now having to play away from home on a **** pitch changes nothing for me. The semi-final and final is at Wembley so we need to be able to do that to win the cup anyway.
I'm not worried super Mario will save us He will play so bad in the europa we will go out this round and driving chelsea are going to hammer us too we will only have Bolton away to worry about for the rest of the year
oh they really were. it was a bizarre showing. i am confident enough to bet your house on utd in the replay though... an away day friday night game in a small gorund isn't eaxlty the same as a proper tie at old trafford.
