Delighted for the lads tonight. I didn't catch the game but it sounded like we were excellent. I wasn't expecting a Maxi hat-trick!
We tore their defence apart and as predicted Suarez was the driving force behind most of our attacks, almost netting it for himself twice but grabbing 2 assists in that game and using some fancy footwork to catch out the birmingham players. It was a good game; and at times our 1 touch football was better than Barcelona - not joking.
Suarez this season has scored twice and got 5 assists in 8 games. What a player! His Goals/Assists to Game ratio is currently 0.875 per game. Whereas Nani (who tops the leaderboard for total goals and assists) is 0.5625 per game. Tevez: 0.658 Drogba: 0.610 If he keeps this up next season he'll be the best in the premier league.
Sounds like the performance was excellent! We are only 3 points behind Spurs now and we have still got to play them.
They still have a game in hand though. Not going to comment on getting 5th spot. Don't want to be a jinx lol.....
Nobody was expecting a Maxi hat-trick.Not that I'm complaining. This proves that Kenny should get the job.The ruthless efficiency and swagger seems to have returned. It was similar to the performance against Citeh, but seeing as there is a difference in quality between Brum and Citeh.Brum were taken apart even more.It was so ruthless it was beautiful.
I actually though Mereiles' passing was not up to his usual standards today and he didn't provide that much of a threat, but we didn't need him to be at his best, which says a lot about the game. He was the guy making the difference against Chelsea etc during that run we had but today was good because our ã35mil striker was out and the guy we brought in to replace him scored a hat-trick. Nice to have more than one matchwinner in the squad. I also think Maxi gets a raw deal sometimes. If he's involved in the game he can be a huge threat, it's jsut those games where we don't keep the ball on the deck that he goes missing.
I wonder what oods you could've have got on a maxi hattrick before the game? at least 100-1 i expect.
The problem is that he's not a winger and he shouldn't be expected to play as one. However today,we saw the Athletico Madrid Maxi, the one that gets in behind defences and plays in the what I used to call the ''Paul Scholes pocket'' inbetween the opposition defence and beyond the Liverpool attack.Very intelligent play by Maxi today.I agree that we have more than one match winner. However Dirk Kuyt has come on leaps and bounds since the arrival of Suarez. The two compliment each other immensely. Before it was Kuyt did all the hard work for Torres, and his contribution went un-noticed,but now,He's picking up the scraps from Suarez' overall unselfish play. And believe me,Suarez is just as unselfish as Kuyt is.
Chuffed for Maxi. He was having a good season until Torres left and I think losing his pal threw him a little.
definitely this, he looked totally out of sorts today. started the game in an unusual position, at the top of a midfield diamond, with maxi and spearing as half wingers/half centre mid and lucas protecting the defence. he started well in this, but then we switched to 4-4-2 and stuck him out on the wing and he drifted out of the game, which didn't help flannigan as there wasn't the attacking help he needed in front of him, making him cut inside a lot to find a pass.
He did well,He helped open the space for others to drift into. The space creating by the players was excellent. The passing and movement was wonderful.
