Alright lads Big one this weekend. I'm never, ever confident of playing you home or away, and now that we're heading into the final stretch of matches, I'm getting extremely nervous . Since last winning the title in 2004, I don't think we've been in a proper title challenge since 2007/08 (we should have put up a better challenge in 2015/16, but we kept bottling it). So a lot of this is unchartered territory for our players and for the fans. Despite how subpar your away form has been, your home form is 3rd best in the division behind us and Man City. I'm under no illusions that this is going to be an extremely, extremely tough game. We've been to Anfield and crumbled numerous times over the years, so this will be a litmus test to see if this team are truly built different or whether there is still an underlying vulnerability when we play big teams away. Frankly, I'd take a point if you offered it to me right now. Thiago and VVD being back for this game will (presumably) been a bigger boost for you off the back of the Chelsea stalemate. Meanwhile, Saliba being out for this game is a monumental blow for us, as the drop off between Saliba and Holding is huge. Holding's done well in the last two games against Palace and Leeds, however, playing Liverpool at Anfield is a different kettle of fish. Nunez, Jota, Salah and Firmino have caused us plenty of problems in games gone by, especially the latter two. And I'm sure they'll be looking to exploit Holding, as well as Zinchenko when he inverts into midfield. I don't subscribe to the notion that winning at Anfield means we have "one hand on the title" like a number of people are saying (can't take any game for granted at this stage of the season), but it will be a big step in the right direction for us. Best of luck for the season (after Sunday of course). .
Most neutrals will have you guys winning despite our home form. You guys are perfectly placed to exploit our downfalls so it could get messy tbh. However, I'm not neutral and I'll always back my team, so I'll refer you to my earlier post.... ... as a fan, you always have to believe
Beating us at Anfield has always been a test of a team’s credentials aspiring to be champions. If you beat us when we play our best (or near to best) team will mean that you would have overcome your biggest hurdle before the City match. And there is nothing City can do to overtake you. But we need the 3 points and as at home we play much much better we will get them.
If it was at The Emirates, I’d agree, but I’m never confident going to Anfield. We’ve been slaughtered way too many times. You’ve also turned up in some of the bigger games this season - walloped Man United, beat Man City, did the double over Newcastle, beat Spurs away etc. I know you’ve been inconsistent, but you’re capable of quality performances on your day so I can’t be too confident. Obviously, I want and need us to win, but I’m not too hopeful that we will.
seriously the team is collapsing in front of us and the end of the season can't come soon enough and i think even our home form will now desert us .
It wasn't too bad mate it's just Liverpool fans have high expectations and haven't been tested as a fanbase.
well obviously we have high expectations but that doesn't change the reality of my post about the team collapsing in front of us .
I don't think it's bad mate I mean you're only what 7 points off 3rd and that's over 28 fixtures... seriously the margins between acceptable and your position are small.
It's an acceptable position regardless as I'm sure you'd take it right now. This is exactly the point and please forgive me for saying it because you won't like it, but you're a spoilt fanbase.
10pts and the position wasn't what prompted my comment but the way the team is performing in last couple of games .
qere you at the same party that milk and tsimikas was at Monday night. whatever acid you lot dropped it still in full effect
