When was the last time we scored against 10 men? If I were a manager setting up to play against Liverpool I'd probably voluntarily play a man short. :bandit:

this feels like 2017 all over again. we are not out of the tie but it feels like we got beaten. this tie should be over now.

if we had any plan b, which we never do, that lot would have folded like deck chairs last night. one goal and flood gates open. surely even a few set pieces and we score eh?

I rarely slag our players off, but when I saw the team, my first reaction was no ****ing creativity in midfield. I know Jones is coming back from injury, but **** me! What the **** was that brainless little **** Minamino doing? <grr>

Don't think I can recall Trent having a ****ter game.

That midfield trio can just not play together either.

Klopp has to do something different. 4-4-1-1 with Firmino behind Jota or something. Play Tsimiskas ahead of Robertson

Last night confirmed what we have known for a long time. Underinvestment in the squad and lack of quality among the squad players is the problem. Simply not good enough

Willing to go easy on TAA. He’s allowed to have a shocker every now and then, remember he’s still a young player. Plus he was one that did actually have covid.

Last night was a total embarrassment and the worst thing is that we can probably expect to see the same issues for the next month until we get our players back (unless Klopp does something radical and drop Hendo / Milner, and change shape).

    Where do we begin?

    - no pace in attack
    - 3 attackers who all prefer to play centrally
    - Milderson does not work - they have won 4 games out of 13 vs top 6 PL teams and in then CL. It's more than enough evidence that they both should not be starting
    - no creativity in midield
    - Robbo continues to offer nothing going forward
    - Trent (our best playmaker (had a stinker)

The sad thing is that these issues were clear to see for a while now. As Quinneristops says, we're playing Milner and Henderson because of the lack of investment in that area. We have no cover for Mane and Salah, again because we didn't buy anyone.

Our owners have let us fall down since winning the PL (we didn't even sign anyone in the summer before the PL win). Expecting us to stick with the same core for decades and run them into the ground, before having to rebuild all over again. When in reality, all we needed was a few signings each summer to refresh the squad. It also doesn't help when Klopp continues to use the same sh*T midfield all the time because of the so called leadership and experience.

Unless we spend significantly in the summer to bring in min 3 players, we will be fighting for top 4 over the next few years.

Xhaka vs Milner vs Henderson for worst midfielder on the pitch. Such a poor game of football.

my main problem is time and again i see the same stuff.

any old defences gets set, be it arsenal who are poor or Leicester with CMs at CB it doesnt seem to matter, we let them get set.
    we all pile on.
We leave two cbs with the ball to make play. (nonsense)
We play in 1/2 to 2/3rd of the width of the pitch with 7 men up on the line, maybe one wide and the 2 cbs trying to find a pass into 10 defenders
Worse we have midfielders who can't turn on the ball. the are all facing away from goal so now the ball comes to them and they have no option due to their level of ability but to pass back. worse the are robbing and space for a real talent to play in.
We normally then ask our best finishers to play as far form goal as they can get.

none of it makes any sense to me. I liked IBWT post on about oh 55-60mins where he said first ball floated from Trent form deep. officially ran out of ideas. that was SO true.

the minute xhaka was off it looked to me like panic set in for us, like as if now they were expected to go score 2 or 3 and they had no faith in themselves. They were falling over themselves frankly and losing it etc.

we need to change it. if we have jota put him in the ****ing box where he can finish, not glued to the right wing

    I would do the following

    Alisson
    trent matip VVD Robertson
    Ox henderson Fabinho Jones
    Firmino
    jota

I would not allow those CMs to go ahead of the ball. If the instruction to trent is come infield then let ox go wide. I'd be telling jota not to leave the width of the 6 yard box and be there to finish pure and simple.

imo the only danger we created last night was when jone back heeled to robbo who them played it to minime who never looked and blazed it across when the cut back was on. that was it. we GOT BEHIND THEM once! use the overlap and force pressure. corners, frees crosses from deep. ge ti nthe box and force a challenge but please don't play in fonrt any more. work to the byeline.

Thing is, we created nothing but let's be honest - we had our best attacker and another very good attacker missing from the front 3, and then we had 2 donkeys playing in midfield. If Trent isn't creating, then there is zero creativity from elsewhere .

The issue I have is that why are we still starting Hendo and milner (and have no sh*t cover in midfield) and why don't we have quality attacking option to cover Mane and Salah.

I'll tell you why - because our owners are pathetic and dont want to put their money in and improve the team. Instead, they want to penny pinch and let our rivals overtake us. Pathetic small time attitude.

What a load of ****e that was, have said in past not convinced about Jota and that still stands. No goals coming from midfield means we're fioked if strikers aren't scoring.Does
anybody still need convincing that we need to retain Salah, just sort it out ffs.

Ok... That was from.the penalty from the red card. So I guess was technically 10 men. Other than from a penalty resulting from.the red card offense. I imagine would have to go quite far back
