Sinclair's been on the radar for so long that I keep adding a year or two to his age. Nope, still eighteen. Probably too kind.
On the flip side, I've lost count of the number of times where Turnbull has been the furthest Saint forward. Perhaps he has been miscast as a CB.
I think "Frantic" was the best way to sum up that game. Good up front with Sinclair & Rowe on song. Dodgy at the back, surprised how static & clumsy that Stephens & Turnball looked at times. Team could learn about calming things down and not rushing passes out of defence and through midfield, lost count of number of sloppy misplaced passes (but Liverpool were much the same). Good win though.
Thought the two wingers and turnbull were our best players. Turnbull was involved for 2 of their goals, the first wasn't a penalty, and the 3rd was mostly the keeper's fault. Apart from that he passed well, intercepted and put in some good blocks, very impressed with his all round game. Reed, britt, and seagar were also good. All players mentioned I could see playing for the first team with Turnbull and Britt most likely imo.
From the team today 5 players probably have a future with us, plus 2 or 3 others that are injured or away with thier countries so not too shabby
If Sinclair and Rowe play like that all season then think both will be away with the 1st team next summer. Think that's why we've not been linked with any solid transfer targets for the wide positions.
Watched highlights on Player...awful mistakes from both teams. However, in the first game of the season Saints showed they can score and snuck away with 3 points. Rowe and Sinclair look very promising.
A little like the First XI on Saturday, looked great attacking but had everyones heart's a going when defending Is this The Southampton Way???????
