Price may be a bit steep. But he is better value for money than Henderson, Downing, Carroll and hell... even Adam.

Different type of player but Arsenal payed similar money on Ox..Allen has as much potential in his equivalent position IMO.

Like what I've seen of him and at about a third of what Carroll cost he's got to be a bargain.

It's very divided on our board at the moment, few are looking at goals/assists stats. I'm probably being slightly more biased as he went to my school...but he is a good player.

Not often you'll get everybody agreeing on the same thing, but I think you'll find most people will end up liking him.

If Liverpool have shown anything this off season, It is not rushing into signings......brendan appointment was though out after a process......and if we were rushing into signings at any cost the Allen signing would have been done along time ago.

So every single manager picked by Liverpool was a good one, and the higher-ups at Liverpool know what the **** they're doing, just because in the past Liverpool were a good team?

Go **** yourself you clueless twat.

Swansea's football was overhyped and over rated. They were just a different team to the sides that usually come up.

Swansea played some good stuff at times, but they kept so much possession because they played simple, unrisky passes.

They never really did anything exciting and I fell asleep in a load of their games.

So if Rodgers wishes to play the same thing with Liverpool next season, good ****ing luck.

Liverpool's problem wasn't keeping possession or playing good football, it was the ability to finish a move and score.

Swansea were disappointed plenty of times when, despite having 65%+ possession, they conceded a goal because of a bit of quality from the opposition.

How many times did this happen to Liverpool last season? Yes plenty. Because they couldn't score and then got caught out.

All I can see with Rodgers in charge of Liverpool is a potential repeat of last season. Not picking up points when required, and frustration.

Stevie knows he has to placate the fans worldwide, I wouldn't read into it much. On the other hand, you don't reach the level he's at by being a pessimist.

Tash, I think Borini might solve some of our scoring issues, and Suarez should be more productive on the left (see his record for Ajax and Uruguay).

I know you're having a rant, but you make some good points... especially about last season. Also, you may find Swansea's style boring...I find Barca boring too... but I doubt their fans don't. Maybe with a little extra quality at Liverpool we could play a bit more attacking than Swansea. Your last sentence is something I think some/all of us fear, but if we do end up playing well and score plenty of goals and it bores the **** out of neutral fans then I wouldn't give a ****. Just so long as it aint boring hoof ball.

    - this is exactly what I thought when we played them later in this season just gone. Pass pass pass pass pass, but then we cut them apart and scored. so they ended up with 70% possession and we won 2 - 0. They passed the ball around great in midfield, but never made that decisive through ball. I'd rather have a Cabaye, maybe not getting every pass successfully to one of our players, but sending through a defence splitting pass to Cisse once or twice in a game.

I disagree that stats mean nothing though, just that you need to pick them apart and really think about them before making a statement that uses them. Observe everything, not just the numbers.

I'm not talking about managers from Liverpools history, i'm talking about Brendan Rodgers and the style in which he plays - Swansea finished 11th in the Premier League in their first season, using many average players. There is absolutely no doubting the quality of player that Liverpool can attract and afford so I can't see how he can possibly fail. If he's not given enough time to implement his style or he locks horns with a bad personality in the dressing room, he might come unstuck as this is his first 'big' job.

    I've a feeling he'll do well... provided he's given the time. <ok>

Perfectly rational opinions. The statements that you can't see how he can fail but that if locks horns/isn't given enough time he might come unstuck sem a bit contradictory to me but since when does football make complete sense. Enormous improvement over your previous post.

I like the lad and think he could well go on to justify that tag. Its the premium you pay for British players that is wrong. Swansea did play nice football and he was integral to it. They didn't have the fire power to make that football count but moving him into a powerhouse of English football playing that way is a different kettle of fish.

12-13million is undoubtedly overpriced but every British player is.

There is no doubt that his style of football is effective - an 11th place finish in Swansea's Premier League debut season was massively impressive. The point i'm making is that while he was given that time in the Championship to develop the passing style, under much lower expectation, he will be under massive pressure for every game.

It's clear that there are a million light-years between the expectations of Swansea City and a European Heavyweight like Liverpool, the only question remains is will he be given the time?

Not sure I care too much for your teacher-esque style reviews of my comments. <ok>
