Liverpool will play two pre-season friendlies at Anfield next month in front of the largest crowd since March 2020. The Reds are set to take on Athletic Club and CA Osasuna in front of a 75 per cent capacity crowd to complete their pre-season schedule ahead of the 2021-22 campaign. The matches are: Sunday August 8: LFC v Athletic Club, Anfield – kick-off 4pm BST Monday August 9: LFC v CA Osasuna, Anfield – kick-off 7pm BST
Aren’t we checking out some RB from the U18/23 Conor Bradley? The foreign player limit is already maxed and we need to move on some players to create some space for any eventual foreign signing
jota will join pre season training on wednesday (tomorrow) that's another back in earlyish. (I still feel we are compressing preseason due to not travelling around the globe so these guys are actually missing far less preseason.
teams tnoight. Match 1: Trent and matip. Couldn't give a flying **** about any other player (ok seeing flash gordan play might be good but otherwise its the stiffs) Match 2: slightly better. Konate, tsimikas, ketia (can me play 30mins without breaking) mane, salah, ox and elliott. the others again nobody cares. note that no vvd and no gomez.
oh and @Jimmy Squarefoot ben davies is starting the first game so please don't miss your chance to see this true great in person
Stand back lads the sweaty jock is back in today. Nobody is safe from a sly dig in the ribs from now on.
Line ups for today Liverpool: Kelleher, Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Matip, Tsimikas, Milner, Keita, Elliott, Mane, Salah, Oxlade-Chamberlain. Subs: Adrian, Karius, H. Davies, Jones, Minamino, Jota, Origi, Phillips, Gordon, Beck, Cain, Clarkson, N. Williams, Morton, Bradley, Koumetio. Ox at false 9 again? Elliot tried in midfield. Second half is a switch that ****e off type group
First thing is we have now seen Harvey elliott in the midfield 3 s second time now. This is an interesting little test for the lad as for me personally hes decent but he doesn't have the pace to challenge for a right wing slowly, however there have been a few passes he has made that suggest he could have some ability to play deeper to make play. Second is ben davies has returned to the uk The leaks say a personal matter which could be anything but it's the curse of the bedrooms again. Robertson turns up and someone leaves the camp to make room.
Think Elliott in CM makes sense. As you say in our system you need pace out wide and he doesn’t have enough to be brilliant out there. However he does have creativity, and a good touch and pass, some nix through balls he played for Blackburn last year. Ox has been playing as false 9 as well and think was ljinders that was talking about him potentially playing there more often.
