Commentators saying it was Liverpool who performed ****e in 2nd half, and not City playing better. Typical biased twats
I think they did let their levels drop to be fair but we also pressed much better in the second half, helped by Sargent moving up front
Yeah I thought in this occasion it was definitely the case that Liverpool went down a notch and looked very comfortable to keep us at arm’s length. Although the result looks tight, the reality is that game was totally in Liverpool’s control. We are weak and lacking in creativity going forward, but also vulnerable and easily pulled out of position defensively. We basically don’t have a potent part to our play.
Gunn is a good keeper, no doubt. But Krul is a quality keeper, and his organisational presence is superb. I like Gunny, but Tim is still top dog imo
Liverpool's goal record against us at Anfield in the last 3 games - 4 goals (Prem Aug 2019) 3 goals, (Prem Feb 2022) 2 goals (FA Cup - Feb 2022) - each time we've played them at Anfield, we've scored (Pukki - 2019, Rashica 2022, Rupp FA Cup 2022) and they've scored fewer goals, maybe we'll get something from them the next time we play them at Anfield, if we score again.
I like Tim Krul and no doubt he is a great keeper for us, it is certainly great to have the competition between two keepers who can arguably be our number 1. For me, Gunny is the future and the one to build upon. His distribution is much better, which is important in the modern game. It may just be a technique thing with GKs but I always feel that Krul is almost falling backwards when he makes saves whereas Gunn is moving into the ball, i don't know which is better as I have never been a GK but I feel more comfortable observing Gunn. Krul may not have been at fault for either goal but they do always say you shouldn't be beaten at your near post, although I accept it was a firm hit. I wouldn't say Gunn has been at fault for any goals conceded recently and has in fact made some good saves. Just my opinion, like I said I thought it would be unpopular and I understand those who are happy to stick with Krul who has never really let us down. Another unpopular opinion, perhaps we should give Pukki a rest or swap him and Sargents positions around to create a different kind of threat. He may get more opportunities making runs from the right and Sarge would give us more of a focal point up top to bring others in to play. I.e. knock it up to Sarge who lays it off to a midfielder running on to the ball, midfielder plays through ball to either Rashica or Pukki who are looking to get in behind the defence.
