This is a picture of Allerton Road, you can make out the same picture house, from 1941!

But I didn't live in Allerton. By 1953 I was living in a corpy house in Childwall Valley (there's posh for you!)

At one time it seemed that every girl I pulled in a club lived either in Birkenhead, Wallesy or bloody Chester!!! <grr>

I used to work for the civil service at the pier head, nearly everyone in the place was from over the water. One day this lovely lady I worked with who was from Liverpool said 'I don't think it's right them coming over and taking all our jobs' - as if the wirralites were immigrants <laugh>

I took my lad on a tour of Liverpool and all of the places where I had livid (well those that were still standing!). We parked opposite the house in Childwall (no longer Corpy) and when I got out of the car to take a piccy they were about to set the dogs on me!!!

Things have changed around the area although not as bad as that, it's still quite posh! But I did read recently that as soon as an Iceland opens, you know the area's 'not what it used to be' [or words to that effect].
