This is probably true. She has a friend called Rabbit that comes around to read with her. Fifty sheds of green, or something like that.

Aqua's skill is miles better than anyone else on the field in the first half, if he is up for and plays for us, could be lethal for us in midfield.

1-0 very quick on the break again by them. Shelvey looks considerably bigger than the others in midfield, but no one is on the same level as Aquilani. Sterling needs to not try so hard and let it just happen.

Having said that, Suso just did some brilliant skill.

1-1 Great work by Sterling, the ball was going in, but Morgan I think tapped it in.

Feel a lot more positive about our youth and settling the squad into the passing style now.

First half we had something like 78% possession according to Fox...

Second half I'm not sure but probably less, although we were much more adventurous.

So what did we make of it all. Thought stand out players were aqualani,Pacheco, sterling and suso in parts.
Adam and adorjan very poor which surprised me cause the young Hungarian has always impressed me when I have seen him play. The rest ok good workout against a team who looked fitter, which they obviously would be,but a little disappointed didn't see too much of the triangles,Rodgers likes but passing was decent however too often the long ball was used to try and force the issue.
Lots to do then but thought quite a few of the youngsters looked decent.forgot Robinson who I thought did well

Fair point, I agree with most. We tried to force the issue a bit too much and didn't pass it enough, I'm sure it will improve more over time.

Shelvey looked physically strong and better than all the youngsters and got stuck in a lot. I forgot Cole was on the pitch, which sounds about right for him. Suso looked composed and skillful, I would like to see more from him. Sterling needs to play a bit calmer as he looks brilliant, just tries too hard at times. Aquilani, well I hope he stays, could make a big difference. Good to see Lucas get some minutes!

Yeah maybe it was the players around him but shelves did look big. Good I think he will be a good player for us. Wish that free kick wasn't blocked he struck it beautifully. Joe cole looked unfit to me. Still almost the entire first team to come back plus Borini so see how that works next time.

    Pretty much agree.

    - Shelvey impressive, looks better every time he plays.
    - Cole disappointing but good on the ball dribbling, as expected.
    - Suso impressive, assured but obv it's pre-season still.
    - Sterling the pick of the lot, real impact, but again, average/poor opposition.
    - Aqua looks like he'd fit like a glove if he decides to stay and fight for a role.
    - Lucas back is huge!

    Feeling good now.

I actually thought Adam looked good when he was deep. Really wish he'd played alongside Lucas a bit more last season.

Wrote about the match on my blog, found in my sig :D If anyone missed the action.

    Thanks!

He just doesn't fit how we want to play.

He made I think one effective long pass and the rest were speculative over the head of Eccleston.

He was wasteful and outclassed by Aquilani, Shelvey and then the... 17/18 year old (?) Suso.

I know its only Preseason and we had a low scoring draw, but im really excited for the new season.

Think brendans style is going to be very positive for us and will work well with not just our players that performed well last season: Lucas, Agger, Skrtel, Suarez, Enrique, Gerrard, Johnson, Shelvey, Henderson.

But will also make the most of returning from loan talents such as Aquilani, Pacheco and Cole.

With the above and the rise of a few youth players, Suso and Sterling for sure, plus others from a very talented pool we have the makings of a very good squad for next season.

Really enjoyed watching Sterling, Aquilani, Pacheco and Suso in the final third, and then imagined them playing with Suarez, and some of the other big boys.

Im not expecting miracles this season, but am looking forward to seeing it develop this season. Glad the pressure is off fromn the owners and hopefully we will not resort to playing the safe option in the premier league.

And even better, as players move up to senior level, they are being replaced in the academy with real talent. u18s scoring freely (16 goals) in their first two matches with some great displays from previous unknown quantities: Danny Smith, Jerome Sinclair, Armin Hodzic etc.

Maybe im just easily excited, but really looking forward to Rafas (and now Brendans) vision for the club taking form.

Came from the match, Pacheco stood out tons, kept making skillful runs, good passes, absolutely do not see why he wasn't ever given a chance. He needs to be part of the first team IMO (not reserves) and get a chance. Suso was good, composed and had moments of skill. He was limited by Cole at parts. Cole was poor, looks out of fitness. Sterling looked excellent always running forward and had a great few dribbles. Unfortunately I feel he was a bit one dimensional as he was trying to showcase his skills and the defender read that early on. Still a good pass for the goal. 33k spectators and a majority were our supporters, this city's big on Liverpool :D

I agree on shelvey, even thought this was toronto and frankly not that hard a game plus our first back I have to say the position he played in the second half was one i didn't expect him to play and do so well in. He was really effective just linking play and sitting in the middle....

I thought suso looked eager and showed the improvement in his game, namely strength and work rate.

Pacheco did indeed do a lot better than last preseason as he worked a lot more. You have to wonder who'd you pikc though... suso, sterling, pacheco.

Danilo's point about cole is interesting. I felt everyone else was playing two touch and he wanted to hog the ball and slow it right down but he did do some decent things too.

Overall it was a decent run out for the young boys and most of them stood up and gave a good showing, not sure what it means really but roll on spurs i guess.
