Ya, pass and move, our philosophy as a club has been attacking football and pass and move keeping the ball on the deck. People are saying we are doing this different stuff but it is just us trying to get back to our roots.
You will find Tika Taki evolved from total football so while not identical it is closely related. Hungary didnt play the total football of Ajax but rather pass and move.
Football, a simple game made complicated by people who should know better. All this talk about who invented types of football as if a club or person has a sort of patent on "passing". Clubs adopt the style of play they think will make them successful, if they're pleasing on the eye then that's great. Whilst we're at it Newcastle United Football Club invented shoes/boots. Before 1892 no-one anywhere wore anything on their feet, all that talk about Jesus being a cobblers son is just lies, its Sunderland propaganda to discredit us.
All of which is kind of proving Dave's "nothing new in football" the ball is round, it can be played along the ground from one player to the other or in the air from one player to the other. It can be played quickly, it can be played slowly...etc etc. Tippy tappy is flavour of the month because players are worth so much & they want football to become a largely non contact sport. If you want the logical conclusion to where it could go if everyone played it? Watch a game of hockey these days: fast, fluid, rather dull...... It's seen as the epitome at the moment because Barca won everything with it just like us or Brazil or Holland: pick a decade, any decade. It's still the quality of the players & their chemistry together not how they dance that matters. Swansea were talked about because everyone was surprised a championship side played it reasonable successfully. Well done and all but they aren't going to win the league with it and neither are we with our current players.....because in the end it's all about the players. So we can all argue about which club invented body popping and who's manager first span on their head but it won't matter in the end. If we win we'll be hailed as skillful genius if we lose we'll be laughed at as Barca/Swansea/ Jazzy wannabes........
WE play Tiki Taka, and Total football, and I'll tell you all something for nothing, we'll have 6 points from you this season! By the way shouldn't you be sending Suarez to specsavers?....................
There was two clubs that introduced one/two touch football into English football. It was Liverpool and Spurs. Both involved the same concept, it all originated from 5 a side games. Whilst most clubs including Manchester United were making their players go on 20 mile hikes, Liverpool and Spurs had their players training with a ball.
Thats actually true. Us fans have to be patient with Brendan, rome wasn't built in a day, even though Milan was destroyed in 7 minutes.
Oh, I forgot that Swansea never lost games by playing the style badly. Barca never lose either. If we had won everyone would be going crazy about the 'new Liverpool way' or some other horseshit.
Get this straight, please. No one at Swansea EVER coined the phrase "Swanselona" nor does anyone remotely try to make comparisons with Barca. We all accept that they are light years better than us. You can blame the media in general and maybe Gary Lineker for making comparisons on MOTD. What we do know is that Roberto Martinez instigated the pass and move philosophy when he became our manager. Rodgers inherited a team that was comfortable in possession and used to playing the "continental" way. We had been playing that way for years before he came on the scene but he can take credit for fine tuning what we had. No more than that. As a club, we do not pretend to be anything other than what we are. Hell, we nearly went out of existence a few years back, so how could we? We are happy and comfortable with the way we play which, because of Martinez' influence, has a decided Spanish feel to it. Laudrup is already tinkering with that, wanting us to be more direct without losing the footballing ethic which is so important to us as a club. Whether Rodgers is successful with you depends very much on how the players react to his methods. There is no question that there is far more talent in your squad than ours, so if they embrace what Rodgers is about, you'll have no problems. If they don't, you will.........
See! This is a perfectly reasonable well written post. Any chance you can tell ****erjack smallknobjack & Waitingformyballstodropjack above that they do not do your fan rep any favours. They sound like little boys trying to impress the girl by pulling her pigtails....
Liverpool are just looking for a way to win and achieve things. They threw around a bit of money over the recent few years (though not masses in the manner of Chelsea, City or even United) and now seem to be trying to adopt an attractive style of football which happens to involve a number of Birtish players. I'm not sure why people are giving them any abuse and the minority of Swansea fans who seem to frequent the Liverpool board to heckle them is bizzare, fair enough you did well last season but don't be fooled into thinking you've achieved anything yet. I hope Swansea stay in the premiership but for the first 2-3 years you just want to focus on consistently trying to stay in the league rather than thinking you're teaching teams like Liverpool how to play football (not including reasonable fans like ivoralljack in that).
............You can but laugh at this lot! fancying themselves as a top four team!! Better get a striker first, as Suarez can't hit the proverbial barn door, with a banjo....................... please log in to view this image
Its not the Liverpool club or fans that are the problem. Nobody has a problem with them, the problem some swans fans have lies with BR and how he renegaded on his word by signing Joe Allen and possibly derailing the Gylfi signing
