I think he's ahead of Gordon at this point.

Or you could put Jones in Morton's role and have him play alongside Szoboszlai.

Imo Gordon will pop this preseason amd people will sit up and take notice of his pace.

You might be right about Jones there. It could happen.

I note nobody defended endo here.

I still find it difficult to nail down an Elliott role

I think as a wide right player is fine but he’s just so different from Salah that makes it harder to picture. Think have to get away from our wingers are going to be super speedy running away from players, making curving runs in behind the defence into the box aka prime Salah and mane.

Look at players like Grealish/mahrez for city. Players that get the ball wide but cut inside horizontally and playing passes - more a play maker type.

That’s the role I see Elliott doing but means needs a RB that’s going to overlap on the outside to keep some width.

I don't know thats what is intended by slot. He wants them narrow with overlapping width.

I don't personally like players who run lateral cos 95% of the time it goes nowhere. It's very easy to defend as long as you don't allow an easy shot.

Slot wants them being inverted wingers still and coming in but they have to drive in

It will be interesting as that's exactly what Gordon is left foot and the right wing just like Elliott.

I'm interested to see where he places Szoboszlai as a result as Hungary place him at 10 or lw

Toast. How many knocks is that through the season and in internationals?

Seems to me we really ought to be prioritising moves at lb

    I actually agree
    But so is Diogo
The injuries our squad picks up is crazy
Been like that for as long as I can remember
I would prioritise our medic squad

Well there is thst but there's also a question in general approach to conditioning and player selection and rest.

I think Robertson looks toast. He easnt last 99 after coming back from that shoulder injury and he's picked up multiple injuries.

At 30 and looking at the awful tsimikas and the not good enough Chambers (more a cb imo) I really think we need to start thinking hard.

We've been linked with Ait Nouri from Wolves a couple of times.

Think he’s still recovering from injury picked up in euros by sounds of it.

Nice clip of jones talking about slot. Full of praise for him so far and given few hints that under klopp was a lot more direct and now it’s about controlling possession and looking to break teams down with possession a bit more rather than being so up and down.

But he didn’t have to go into as much detail. If you’re lying you’d just say yeah he’s been great looking forward to it.

but you wouldn’t go into the detail of why you’re enjoying it etc

I find it a bit interesting as the one player I would not associate with moving the ball fast and playing one and two touch is Jones.

That boy hogs the ball, he'd rather walk the ball over to someone taking 5 touches than lay it off or pass and move.

Maybe slot has him out on the wing or something. Who knows.

Maybe Slot is teaching him not to hog the ball.

From what it seems the wide players were always about speed getting up and down and midfield was more industrial and jones didn’t ever really fit into either of those camps perfectly.

But under slot the midfield is trying to be more cultured. Get on the ball and want it and play football, have a big impact which I think it what he’s saying he’ll enjoy as it’s less around just being a blocker for the top 3 to flourish.

I would wonder about cultured verses playing quick.

Is it barca tiktaky passing for passing sake or is it move thr ball fast up thr park?

I agree thst we valued rapid breakaways and high pressing under klopp at his best so players had to win that ball and go vertical dead if. I. Where it's won.

Slot seems to want to have width and crossing and fast passing so he's got to get behind teams wide and he's got pass fast.
