So we've spent £95m and received £62mish. Yay another season of barely spending Just a shame about all those players that left for nothing and now we've got a smaller squad. But a shiny (unfinished) stand and 2 players to replace 6 gone.
We seem to be in a tricky situation with the DM role and the homegrown aspect. I honestly don't think we'd be looking at Lavia without the homegrown aspect - I don't think he's worth what Southampton are asking. I just hope we're going after another target that the "ITKs" are unaware of, like with Szoboszlai
The home grown issue can be largely ignored for this season with europa but must be addressed SOON Club trained: Kelleher - could be sold any time. - there are keepers coming up thought that can take this slot (davies imo is VERY good) Trent - untouchable hopefully Jones - now 22. a squad player. a 6, an 8 a lw. Vitezslav Jaros - is already now considered HG joe gomez: bit of a nightmare TBH but fills a gap now the issue "To qualify as homegrown, a player must have been registered to an English or Welsh club for a period of three seasons (or years) before his 21st birthday, with a maximum of 17 non-homegrown players permitted in the Premier League." Players we have to make up the 8 elliott - 3 years no issue is 20 but really can go in the Hg pile. also u21 pile Morton - will turn 22 during season Players that will be u21 Bajcetic - getting close to the 3 years in prem and meets 2 years in europa? quansah bradley (not 3 years yet) doak (this is year 2 of pro contracts and year 3 maybe) clark hg is no issue We are for sure short of players in the short term and the quality of what is underage is the question. IMo we could do with Lavia for this HG alone.
If you binned six broken toilet brushes and bought two that actually worked you'd be happy. As I said in the other thread, we started with nine midfielders, we've now got six #perspective
Excessive if you've only one toilet. I agree, the numbers look bad taken at face value, but in reality we're nowhere near as badly off as it seems in midfield - the back line is desperate though.
simple solutions. 1. promote quansah. looks better than Williams to me. has a pass and looks decent. 2. gomez to reserve rb. 3. buy a rb. defence sorted. 4. put trent to no 6. permanent move. midfield sorted. I really don't think we should be trying to be all that fancy moving players and playing box shapes unless it's more positive for us than negative. would love it to work like city and have 80% of the ball but we simply leave too.many easy gaps. midfield = macallister trent szoboszlai. the reserves are Elliott and Jones but there you go. there's kids and thaigo to come. my defence of new rb konate vvd Robertson. Then gomez matip quansah tsimikas. if you get a really good rb for the 15 or 20mil left or what have you then go for it.
I like this, but wasn't Trent back in his old RB role against Munich? I fear rumours of Klopp.moving him to DM were misfounded. A new RB has been my #1 want most of the summer.
no trent was the inverted fullback/6 that plays 10 by pressing up the park. that's about as far from a right full back as he can get bar play no 9. we've played an inverted full back every single preseason game. the second trent goes off tsimikas comes.on and does the role.
another kid departs. max woltman is off to Oxford. he has a half chance at a pro career so it's the right move. whisper it softly but we are clearing the decks in the u21s forwards to make room for Ahmed and Figueroa coming up.
