Christ i new there was a lot, but you only really appreciate his ****e transfer history when it's put in list form
I wasn't so sad to type them all up. I found this on some website. I honestly only deleted about 5 players from the list too. How bad was he in the transfer market really.
Is buying that amount of players normal in the time period he was at liverpool for? Would be interesting to see the lists for other managers.
£28 million for Juan Sebastian Veron..The Argentinian Michael Carrick.Rafa made some dud signings, but nothing matches this. How much of a loss did you make on him again..Oh yeah £13 million. Not as much as you made this summer on Hargreaves. How much did you make back on him...oh yeah..nothing.
Players are insured thogh, he's been injured that much of his United career we won't have lost as much as people think. Hargreaves was only a dud because of his fitness, ability wise he was great. Not to mention we won the league and Champions League with Hargrease being a key member of the team. As for Veron, he wasn't a bad player, he just didn't fit. Yes he was an expensive player to not fit, but we still kept him for longer than the 4 months Rafa kept Keane before selling him at a big loss.
Rafa made a huge loss on Robbie Keane...It was so huge it was Zero.Spurs gave Liverpool back £16 million, they still owe £3 million in add-ons.
Wasn't it £12 million possibly rising to £16 million with performance related addons? Considering how little he has played and scored I very much doubt many, if any, of those addons will of been activated.
Personally I don't care how much cash you lost on Robbie Keane. All I care about is that he unbalanced and ****ed up your team in the one season you had a decent chance of breaking your PL duck. Thanks Rafa, you gave us number 18 on a plate and then dumped Liverpool out of the Champions League. What a hero
Veron won us a Premier League title, I think we made our money back on that. Hargreaves won us a Premier League and Champions League double. I think we made our money back there too! Thanks for the concern
To be fair, many of them were youth players and still in the youth ranks so that list is complete nonsense.
Yeah but in his time at Liverpool, Benitez still spent more than Ferguson did and come out with a whole lot less.
Gross, maybe yes. But due to the owners he had to "wheel & deal" quite a bit. Have you got net spend figures???
I found this: '£221.95m: Manchester United’s gross spend on transfers (£147.90 million net) since June 2004, when Rafael BenÃtez was appointed Liverpool manager, up to and including January 2009 transfer window £212.60m: Liverpool’s spending (£111.39 million net) during same period' But then in the summer of 2009 Liverpool bought Aquilani for £20m and Glen Johnson for £18m while United bought Valencia for about £16m. They also sold Ronaldo for £80m that summer.
From your own fans: http://www.liverpool-kop.com/2010/11/debunking-liverpool-fc-myths-no-9-rafa.html http://www.liverpool-kop.com/2010/10/exclusive-liverpool-vs-man-united.html The whole "wheel and deal" thing is just a myth. The owners never forced him to sell anyone - he flogged so many players cos they simply weren't good enough. Ultimately he spent too much in his first five years without the success to show for it, and so the money ran out. Had he won the PL, or any other trophies, after 2006 then the extra revenue would have allowed him to keep spending. SAF's biggest spending seasons have almost always come after we won the PL title and thus we could easily afford it. As it is, Benitez achieved roughly the same average level of success as Wenger over his time at the club, but spent unsustainable amounts of money when doing it.
Hes a wee scouse WUM who constantly hangs around the United forum and never bothers with the LFC forum, loser...
