"verbal contracts" aren't worth the paper they are written on. <whistle>

Verbal contracts are actually enforceable in law in certain circumstances.

That said, he won't be held to anything. He owes us bugger all at the end of the day and always said that for him it was playing under Rodgers that was the attraction.

    Let it go.

Verbal contracts are very enforceable, but can be difficult to prove.

They are not to be recommended over the written type, hence my reproducing the oft used facetious comment.

As for Sigurdsson,"let it go" indeed, which is no problem for me,since I was never convinced he was actually going to sign. He prevaricated too long, and then BR left,so bye bye GS.

Could Brendan be in any hot water, after all ..... he has publicly come out and said he has spoken to Siggy since he became Liverpool manager about his situation but is interested in signing him. Doesn't he need permission from Hoffenheim to speak with the lad, the same way we needed permission.

Given up on Siggy and don't want him ....... but isn't BR TAPPING UP by openly speaking to someone about transfers that has eff all to do with him??

Rodgers is a master of spin but I think his conduct here is pretty sneaky.

He is publicly encouraging Siggy to sign for us whilst, simultaneously, letting the player know that he is interested in taking him to Liverpool. All things being equal, Siggy will choose to go to Liverpool - bigger club, more history, bigger attendances and managed by someone he respects.

Fine, no one can blame him for that but this shouldn't disguise the fact that Rodgers was advising him (knowing full well that he wouldn't) to sign for the Swans purely to protect his own arse so that he can be seen to being up front and fair in the matter. In my opinion, he has been anything but. Like I say, sneaky!!! And VERY transparent, Mr (I love Swansea) Rodgers.

And what about Rory Donnelly? He nearly went to Liverpool to begin with, so now Brendan is there as well perhaps we may be seeing the last of him ?

I was thinking about young Donnelly, and the fact that it was Rodgers that persuaded him to join The Swans',in preference to Liverpool. Ironic,or what?

Similar situation to Dobbie when he came here, and then Martinez left.

Managerial shuffles can be very disruptive all round, some players will be wondering if the new broom will sweep them away.

It will be fascinating to watch how Laudrup deals with his new staff.

    Never a dull moment,eh.

Not sure about Rodgers being "sneaky". Siggy knows Rodgers was desperate to get him when he was at Swansea so why would that change now he's at Liverpool? He knows Rodgers admires him, just as Rodgers knows Siggy's main motivation in coming here was Rodgers. Life doesn't take place in a bubble.

I wish posters would stop reading nasty things between the lines just because Rodgers left us. Let it go ffs. If Siggy wants to spend a season on the bench at a bigger club that's his call. He owes us precisely nothing.

True - didn't say they weren't. But sometimes there seems to be a tendency to look for the negatives when there's no need. Rodgers says nothing and he's being Machiavellian behind the scenes. He says he's watching what happens and he's being 'sneaky'. Look, he's a blarney-merchant par excellence I'll give you that but in a lot of fans' eyes he's damned whatever he does, and I accept there's nothing I can say to change that.

But one thing people seem to be forgetting - it'll be Siggy's choice.

Both Rodgers & Sig got to big , to quick with a big help from a small , cohesive club ... we'll see how much help they get from a big , shattered club when the going gets tough . I don't wish either any bad , I frankly couldn't care less about either as they move on .

Knack, you're right, it is blarney. But I don't like blarney because I equate it with lies and spin and Rodgers is a master at it.

I say in my post that I don't blame Siggy - it's his decision but what I don't like is Rodgers stating in the press that he's encouraging Siggy to sign for us KNOWING FULL WELL that he probably won't.

Like I say, blarney and Rodgers is posturing as the good guy in the situation to further enhance the image he is creating for himself. I find it false to be honest.

That's true, but many of them just come across as being all bitter. He's moved so good luck to him and let's just get on with supporting our own team. No need to constantly focus on other teams, managers and players.
