Downing was voted Aston Villa's best player.. Costa was voted Atletico Madrid's (Who finished 3rd in La Liga and got pushed out-wide to compensate for Falcao) best player! RVP was also voted Arsenal's best player before he left.

20 in 44 and not being the main striker is a good return though <ok>

Don't see too much sense in this bid. A lot of money like that should be spent better imo.

FFS <laugh>. We go out and buy unknown players for cheap and people complain. We put in a real offer for a player who would get in most sides in the EPL and people still aren't happy. He is a quality player, albeit a massive tool. He would drastically improve our first team.

7. That is the joys of an internet forum; there are many different users each with their own opinion, contradictions will appear to happen <ok>

Inter fans were devastated, and the 8million fee was the real killer blow. I think Atleti fans would be similarly pissed if we got Costa for 15million or so, but the fact is for 25million they are able to get more than capable replacements (rumour is Cazorla..!)

Personally I think the only way we're going to get Costa is by activating his release clause (if it even exists). Hopefully if we are actually in for him we can wrap it up early and get him in for the start of the season. Would Costa even be up for this move? Atletico are in the CL and were a force last season in La Liga. We'll see.

I do think he is overpriced but as you say - he's an upgrade on what we have and can come straight into the first team.

I would say he's a more nastier version of Kuyt - may not be pretty on the ball but he is effective. Will get goals, assists, get stuck in, put himself about and work hard.

I know it's unlikely to happen but if we signed all 3 of costa, papa and eriksen then I really believe we have a squad that would be better than arsenals and spurs (with or without Bale) and a tilt at 4 th would be a real possibility.
Now we just need the powers that be to stop fannying around and go and get them

£8m is the steal of the century!

Atleti buying Cazorla would make my day!! Wenger has come out and said that his squad is currently strong and he doesn't need to make big signings!!

13. If us getting Costa resulted in Arsenal losing Cazorla, that would be funny (assuming we don't sell them Suarez)

He plays for a Spanish club, it is compulsory that he has a release clause <ok>

14. What if we could do that but only if we sell Suarez first?

Even Messi and Ronaldo have minimum fee clauses .... but they're set at something like €250m or something as stupid as that lol.

Does anyone else think Rodgers is taking the whole "death-by-football" thing a bit too far?

20. Yeah, usually they are set ridiculously high. Its why Real were able to sign Figo all those years ago too <ok>
